    Re: XCR Porn

This is the basic rifle setup. The only thing missing is the Troy BUIS.

This is a shot of the new gas block adjustment knob. Very simple & fast, no tools required.

This is a crappy shot of the Smith Vortex Flash Hider. Removing the A2 was pretty easy with enough force. The Vortex went on in no time.

I went with the MagPul CTR stock. I have the commercial version. The commercial tube I had on hand is a little bit longer than a Mil-Spec tube. This gives me a little bit more LOP to accommodate my 38” sleeve length. As you can see I am also using a CTR cheek riser. This brings the height up to where it would be on an AR.

I mounted my Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 1.5 – 5 scope on my XCR. I am using a LaRue Tactical SPR mount. My SPR mount is a bit too long for the MR/T but it is what I had. Overall I love this set-up.

This is another shot of the MR/T in the LaRue SPR QR mount.

The lit reticle on the Mark4 MR/T is not visable in bright sunlight but at dusk or early in the morning it really helps. Overall the light gathering on the MR/T is outstanding. This is not a surprise to anyone who owns Leupold scopes. They work very well.

This is the BOBRO Vertical Forward Grip that I mentioned in the great big XCR thread. It locks up very solidly and I am very pleased with it.
You can’t have too much ammunition. Unless you are on fire or going swimming.

Nice looking rifle, but how do you get nearly close enough to that ACOG's recticle to get any sort of view through it with it mounted that far forward?

I tossed it on for the pictures (quick mount), a .223 (especially light 16" barrel) should only ever need irons

    Itstock,

What is the laser attachment you show on your rifle? I have seen them before but never found out who makes them and is there any advantageto having such a large laser over some of the smaller units around?
    O.S.O.K.

I'll answer in order of importance! The green laser on my gun serves no REAL purpose at all. It is SUPER bright and will reach as far as the human eye can see. It's fun to play with on and off the gun, getting the dog to chase it around, shining it on houses miles away, etc. (while OFF the gun). The downfall of the laser is that you can see exactly where the beam is/coming from. It's another high quality, hong kong knock off laser.

It also happens to come with a REALLY NICE, high quality quick release. You can get them off ebay for around $45. The price is worth it alone for the quick release setup that is included.

    How do you figure that?

What version do you have and can you get a good cheek weld with it that far forward and still see through it?
About BUIS and ACOGs. I was under the impression that BUIS wouldn't work through a 4X power scope. You can't keep the front sight in focus.

IMHO: that being the case, the only time BUIS are relevant with a 4X ACOG is if you have a quick-detach mount. Since you have to remove the entire scope to use the BUIS, there's no point in trying to mount it forward of the rear sight.

In fact, I think that ACOGs are built to fit neatly over a folder rear sight.

One solution is to use the ACOG TAO1NSN because it has back-up sights integrated into it.

    Re: XCR Porn

That's the way I have mine set up. Here's a picture. BTW, I can see the front post through the ACOG in the lower half of the view but, of course, the rear sight is folded. My ACOG has the big thumb screws and can easily/quickly be removed if necessary. In addition, I have no problems with a solid cheekweld. I've even tried the TA31 on my FAL and had no problems with eye relief.
