    Fluting a XCR heavy barrel

I have a XCR heavy barrel 556 and was wondering about having it fluted to save some weight. Is it cheaper to get a new barrel or have my barrel fluted? If fluting is the way to go, any recommendations on who to do the work?

    Thanks,
    Pete

ADCO has done fluting for a lot of members here, including me. I have been pleased with their work. Recently, I had some barrel work done by Paul at proprecisionrifles.com his work is top notch.

    +3 for ADCO
I had my 18.5" heavy 5.56 flutted by them. Quick and good. Same or possibly even lighter than my friends 16" heavy.
Very happy. It was only about 100 bucks. I think new barrel is like 300?

Sent both my barrels to ADCO. 5.56 was chopped, fluted, and pinned. 7.62 was chopped and pinned. Work, price, and quickness of service were excellent.

My original 5.56 Heavy was cut by ADCO as well. Got it back within 10 days.

Does anyone know for sure if they will flute the 7.62 barrel? I think someone else asked in another thread but there was no confirmation on it. Thanks.

When you are sending in your barrel to be fluted, are you all removing the gas block?

I didn't...just removed the old muzzle devices.
