Agreed. If it was a milled AK like the Arsenal SA-M7-SF with limited production, maybe $2k, with all due respect, maybe $1k...

In my opinion this is a rifle that will generally appeal more to collectors. There is nothing wrong with shooting them however.I wouldn't fire one if I owned one that I knew to be new in the box,but I'm not into safe queens so I would most likely sell it.In my opinion, the asking price of this rifle falls in line with what fair market value for a collectable,no longer importable/available rifle of this type should be.It's not generally appealing for someone who wants a general purpose rifle just for banging around the woods. Not that it wouldn't serve in that role but you don't abuse collectables.Just ten years ago this rifle was in the $1100 ballpark. It's really not about milled or stamped or wether it's better than a Krebbs or an Arsenal, both of which you can still buy. :2cents:

They can be had for less... but I would not sell it for less. These are Polytech Legend AK's, considered to be one of the best AK's with the best barrels. They are imports that stopped bing imported in 1989. Price will only go up with time.

Very nice gun. Always wanted one of these, but unfortunately I don't have the extra funds to get it for todays pricing.

True, they can be had for less. But more often than not you'll find that they're missing the original chrome follower mags, manual, box, ect. A HUGE item you'll see missing is the single leather tab sling. You can get the double tab SKS slings all day long but the single tab AK specific slings are becoming like hen's teeth.

Since my AK has all of these items to include the original oiler and other cleaning products I felt this is the best I could do. But honestly, I think I may keep it. I've been trying to sell it to help out my wife pay off her car so that we wouldn't have any payments to make on anything anymore (except bills like water, garbage, ect.). But she actually has been trying to talk me out of it since she knows how much I love it and how hard it would be to replace it.

You know what, screw it, I'm keeping it.

Yeah I would keep it. Then again since they go for about $2000 maybe I would sell it. I don't think there are many people here into safe queens so might have a hard time dumping it here, but I see no reason why this thing would not sell on gunbroker or arf were you have much higher traffic.

It's a nice rifle and you will get your $2000 price, if not now then eventually you will.

Agree, if it is a collectors item stick it on gunbroker. You'll get a higher price for it.

But I don't want to have to pay a chunk of it in fee's. When I added it up I think it would have been about $500 in fees to GB. No thanks.

you've been given the wrong info about gunbroker. If that gun sells for say 2000, probably at most you would have to pay would be 50 for the sale and a couple bucks for thumbnail images or featured auctions or what have you. I sell all my guns on there and recently sold a khar pistol for 800 and had to pay around twenty dollars in fees

Re: WTS/WTT: Rare Polytech Double Underfolder

Jon is correct. I've sold several items on GB and they are much cheaper than Ebay. Recently, I had to sell my XCR in order to raise some money. It sold on GB for $1,500.00 and the fees were only $17.00 and some change. GB does not charge you if your item doesn't sell and you may automatically relist it until it does sell.

I've had several AK's over the years including one or two CAIs. I've found most of the earlier Romak models to be pretty decent for a entry level AK but I'd stay away from the WASR models unless you can thoroughly inspect it first (definitely check for mag fit). Also, don't pay more than $400.00 at the most for a WASR. I've got an bulgarian AK-74 para built on a NDS receiver that I love. Personally, for a 7.62x39 I'd go with an Arsenal. You won't regret spending a little extra money and they have good resale value of you decide they aren't for you. The aforementioned K-Var models are supposed to be quite good as well but I've never shot one.
I'd also recommend refraining from modifying the AK with rails and such. The beauty of the Ak is it's simplicity and lightweight construction.
