Magic is good, but chasing cats around is better > or maybe just more fun....
It's all fun and games till you get off at Auschwitz.

Instead of "distant target", I meant "distant cat". Better?

;D perfect. Now if only it was this easy to settle disputes with the anti-gun nuts.

That's easy too. Send them all to France since people love it so much over there. Leave America to the ones who believe in what the Founding Fathers wanted for this country.

Some people, with an eye dominance issue will see two reticles when both eyes are open. You need to work out which on is in line with POI and learn to focus on that one. You simply need to find what works and practise until it becomes seccond nature.

Note that for some shooters with an opposite eye dominance, moving a red dot forward on the rifle sometimes helps.

Sometimes it can help for them to temporarily switch the side they're shooting from. It may feel awkward if they haven't done it, but it can make things suddenly work with the site sometimes. Then at least they know what it should look like and how it should work when they switch back.

Since I missed it the first time, the way I train people to use an RDS (normally an Aimpoint) is to close the front cap and tell them to put the dot on a distant target. If they close the left eye they can't. If they have both eyes open as you should when fighting anyway the dot will transpose onto the sight picture magically.
That's the way I was taught to shoot Eotechs/ACOGs with both eyes open when I was in. It worked well for me and I would recommend it as a training practice.

Aimpoint even suggests this in their T-1 manual. I just do it for poops and grins. By doing this, you can also keep the intensity of the reddot down a couple of notches.

Also helps if using a magnified "lit-up reticle" optic like the current issue RCO. Put the killflash on, a lens cap closed over, and you get all the benefits of an RDS for up close, without the pesky magnification.
