Both my XCRs are mini uppers with standard length gas systems. One is a pistol with a 12" barrel and the other has a 16" barrel. Borth work fine. I've never fired or held a standard length XCR so I have nothing to compare the weight or balance.
How many people here are using Mini-sized uppers w/standard size barrel lengths & gas systems?
How many people are using 14.7" barrels w/pinned flash hiders?
Just wondering how common it is.
I've been waiting so long for any news about new developments from Robinson (like everyone else) and I am wondering whether to upgrade my XCR now or continue waiting to see if Robinson is going to come out with new stuff like improved barrels or a new upper design or finally get official word if the SF configuration as shown in pictures before is a go or no go.

Got one ad hoc SF configuration. It is part of my patrol kit at work.
Does having the gas tube exposed make it fit more loose/wiggle more?
Martens, what caliber do you use for your patrol XCR?
I've been trying to decide which I ought to go for first... the shortened 14.7" barrel or the Mini upper. Which would make a more noticeable difference?
I run a .223. I don't notice any wiggle--it may be there, I just have never noticed. If you already have a full size upper, the 14.7 inch barrel is the bigger benefit as it removes the weight from farther out.

My SBR'd XCR has an 11" light profile barrel on a standard rifle length upper. I wonder how that same barrel would look on a pistol upper? Kind of like a "micro SF design"?

IF you want to send me your barrel, I'd be happy to mock it up on my micro upper. I'd even put a few rounds down range to make sure it works as it should.
