Question for Kolob Re: XCR Medium 7.62 x 51mm. Does it exsist?

    Mr. Robinson,

Question for you Sir. Have you produced a prototype of the 7.62 x 55 and if so how does it stack up? Is it more like shooting a FAL or an AR10. I am very interested in the production of this rifle as it is my very favorite caliber.

One more question. What calibers are envisaged for the XCR Heavy? Thank you for your participation.

I hope it's not like shooting an SR25. I want the rifle to actually work. :P

Actually, I'm hoping for HK reliability and accuracy, but with ergonomics more appropriate to a human and not an ape.

This was posted in Arfcom yesterday by someone. I don't know if it is true.

"This may be old news but it was new to me. I emailed RA to ask if the XCR-m was going to use DPMS mags. Alex emailed me back saying DPMS mags were going to be used and that they may also make a lower that will take AR10 mags. He said release was still early 2008."

So ... with that in mind, looks like the .308 version of the XCR, XCR-M, is indeed being planned.

    Let's hope so.

This is indeed good news. If we could onlt get Alex R. on here to maybe confirm this posting I would be a happy man.

What magazines do you guys think would be better suited considering the reciever may follow the same line as the XCR-Light???

I'd say DMPS/KAC, some say G3, some say FAL.

If hi-cap mags cheaper than the DPMS/KAC ones can be made to work reliably, then I'd be all for that.

But, I've had no issues with my DPMS/KAC magazines. Some folks have had feed issues, or issues with deep scratches on the spent brass. These issues can be resolved easily with sandpaper or a small file in the right places on the mag body.

The FAL mags have presented issues for AR's in .308/7.62 as shown by the Bushmasters and the soon to be released RRA model. But, maybe RA could solve these issues.

How did it suddenly go from the XCR Heavy to "medium"?

Are we expecting a .50cal version down the line or something?

We designed .308 Model which we have named the [b]XCR Medium (XCR-M). We do not have a date for this rifle but we estimate that it will be available in early 2008.

That would be my guess as well. An XCR sniper rifle?

Well, my .50 cal comment was mostly sarcastic... I can't imagine them trying to chamber one in anything bigger than .308. But that is interesting that they are now calling it the "medium".

I think they have always called it Medium. It was my mistake to call the section Heavy.
