Oh wait, I think I misread your post.
Hey guys,
I'm looking to shave some weight off my barrel (16" HBAR)
Was thinking about conturing to medium profile on top of fluting, then cutting it down to 14.5"
Has anyone done this?
For all u guys that have fluted/cut your barrels, please post your pictures along with a description of what you have done (e.g. 3, 4, or 6 port flute...)
Thanks

Ahh Zamfir, and other favorites.
That guy, he said I should be oblong and have my knees removed. But I don't trust him, he plays the banjo.
I had a heavy fluted with six flutes. Weight was within a few ounces of a light barrel. Looks way better. Will try and get a pic for you.
While a fluted barrel definitely looks cooler I'd suggest turning the barrel down to light profile behind the gas block and then cutting down to 14.5". Or you could do that plus flute the remaining barrel in front of the gas block for added weight savings and for the cool look:

It's just a copy of the 14.5" "government" profile used on M4's (minus the M203 cuts). The point I was trying to make (though failed to deliver) was that turning it down to light profile would cut more weight as opposed to fluting. Eh, I don't know, didn't think that through before typing.

I cut mine down and had a YHM adapter permanently pinned. 4 flutes past the gas block and 6 behind. I liked the look of 4 better (thanks PDBRESKE), but wanted to cut as much weight as possible so went with 6 behind the gas block.

Dude.... I'm pretty sure the front mbus is on backwards in your photo. :duh:
Tzoid
I thought the same exact thing when I saw it. I've never seen an iron that folded forward instead of back, but at the same time, it looks like the securing screw is there on the left side, which is generally where they always are... From the look though it's almost GOT to be backwards despite the location of the set screw.
