I would be but I was in a hurry to get to work :duh:. I shot it about 45 minutes before I had to get to work so I was pressed on time by time I hauled the deer up the ridge to the vehicle and then got it back to my friends house and then posed for the pic I was in a rush to get to work on time.

Are you having it processed?

Processed? You gotta get in there man. More meat for you.
Don't get me wrong I'll process if the freezer is almost full and I have friends who want some meat but don't have the means to hunt. But it's his first deer. That's part of the learning process. I'll also process to get some things I don't have time to make like breakfast sausage or salami. I'll also swap if the animal ran a ways before it died. :-[ For some reason the adrenaline stays in the meat and sours it. :2cents:

You can always grind it down and then make lots of jerky! My folks usually keep the tenderloin and steaks, and have the rest ground up. Makes for some good jerky. Of course I dont believe we ever have problems with adrenaline getting in the animals. My dad hunts with a 7mm magnum and my brother a .300 magnum.... I've often joked that if you dont hit the deer the wind from the bullet will kill them!
Congrads...... glad my buying your Millet helped with your first deer. ;D Day before yesterday, last day of muzzle loader season, I had a doe come to me over my right shoulder. I couldn't get turned around in my stand for a shot, so I just watched her play. >Today was windy so no luck. Tomorrow is the gun show..... baugh... humbug. >

Yes and No
My Friend whose land I was hunting on butchered it for me today since I would not have been able to until Monday. They are giving most of the meat to one of there family members who is not able to hunt anymore because of an injury, I do not have room in my freezer anyway but I getting a loin and roast and a lot of jerky. I hope to go again this week when I have more time so if I get one I will take care of it myself. I for the most part know how to do it myself since I have helped my Uncles before.
I could have shot a doe earlier that morning I was setting on a powerline that had about 10 game trials that crossed it in front of be and then opened into a little bit of a clearing about 175 yards in front of me. I had heard a doe to my left but it sounded like it was coming up the ridge and away from me, it did not though just about 2 minutes after I thought it had left it came running out in front of me about 40 feet away by the time I got the rifle swung around I would have ended up shooting its rear end so I did not take the shot.
I learned with my first deer is that tracking is not as hard as I thought it would be, it just took me a little bit to get through all of the underbrush to wear I shot it and then I found a trail of blood to wear I ended up finishing it off. I also learned that I should not of approached the deer as soon as I did because if I did not I might not have even got up and ran and just died in place.
Now that I have got a deer with my .300 WinMag I think I am going to head into West Virginia wear I can hunt with my XCR.
