That is a great photo! But, what kind of rifle is that? Just kidding!

I can honsetly say that those were some of the nicest, shiniest knee pads I've ever seen.

It is kind of like those ads that show this super tough operator, who just happens to have all new gear, complete with creases. I always think those guys should be wearing faded BDU's with a beat to hell rifle. A little duct tape, some random scrapes and paint goes along way. Maybe a bungee cord sling and some beef jerky!

Haha, in due time. My gear has only been out coyote hunting so far.

I bought an XCR-L last year after quite a bit of discussion with a friend.

I wasn't sold on them for the first few years, despite their availability here in Canada along with the good support from Wolverine. The teething issues (real or exaggerated) caused a pause for thought, and some of the internet drama surrounding the platform left me a bit cold (see what I did there?)

Anyway, when I got around to looking in earnest I found I quite liked the ergonomics. Enough so that I decided to adopt. As they are non-restricted here (and therefore trivial to purchase) I carted the rifle, one of the latest generation with FAST stock, home with me that same day.

Here's how it sat before some of my last mods (AAC Blackout, etc...). Shown in the first three at home:

And in the last two at my home range in Wildwood, AB.

I have modified the rifle quite a bit from stock configuration since, including but not limited to:
    • AAC Blackout™ 51T Muzzle Brake (a real ***** because I had to dremel the original unit off)
    • HS Thorntail Offset Adaptive Light Mount
    • Surefire Scout M600
    • PEQ2A with remote switch
    • Aimpoint Micro T1
    • Troy Industries BUIS
    • A Magpul sling

There's a fair amount I still want to do this summer, but the bigger ones are:
    • An identical twin (two is one...)
    • 3 extra barrels.
    • Some milling to flute or dimple the barrels. (I'd like to shave some weight off that heavy profile Canadian 18.6" barrel)

I love the ergonomics, and enjoy how the gun shoots.

As for the 7.62x39, I generally carry several mags of Hornady hunting ammunition with me. This isn't a work rifle and I'm not too worried about the Zombie apocalypse, so I am just enjoying it as you see it. A really enjoyable rifle that by all appearances is becoming a legally convenient workhorse/truck rifle for the Canadian wilderness.

I'm looking at the mags you have, did you mention this rifle is 7.62x39? what mags are you running? and where did you purchase them?

C Products mags. Yes, in 7.62x39. These mags have been fairly good. I got a dozen of them at Barton's Sports in Grande Prairie, and have not managed to find any (with any other vendor) since.

Cheers, I was able to order 6 of them, they certainly don't come cheap either!
