I've been waiting for 2 years for the 6.5. I would be in for it.

The 6.5x39 wildcat is very popular in Australia, as it is easy to make from 7.62x39 cases. And yes, I would buy the barrel from Alex if he made one. I already have a spare AR Colt complete bolt carrier in 7.62x39. :

There are at least two copies of the grendel: 264 LBC and 6.5 CSS. Both claim to be compatible with grendel ammo and rifles.

This makes me wonder how a 7.62x39 necked to 6.8 would perform???

People are also fire forming grendel brass from 7.62x39 brass with success. http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/pow...5-grendel.html

Don't know for sure, but 6.5 seems to yield a good balance of BC and muzzle energy, plus good bullet selection.

    Apples and oranges.

6.5 is long, skinny bullet and the 6.8 is a short, fat (at least more so than the 6.5). Each has it own applications, advantages and disadvantages.

If you want a bullet that requires very little barrel twist and will work well out of an SBR with decent velocities and ranges... you want a short, fat bullet.

If you want a bullet that will retain its energy over long ranges and will buck wind and other environmental influences then you want a long, skinny bullet.

If you are lucky enough to have an XCR and the two different rounds based on the same parent case, you can go from crazy sick-ass Delta Force mode to long range Carlos Hathcock mode in about 20 seconds with a barrel change.

It seems to me that the 7.62x39 parent case, as far as the amount of charge it holds and recoil it generates, is the grande compromise between the 5.56 and the 7.62x51.
