TSA Grope & Grab Continues (Sky Harbor International in Phoenix, AZ)

Video of an incident recorded over the memorial weekend at Sky Harbor International in Phoenix, AZ, documents how the TSA deal with people who are traumatized by grossly invasive enhanced pat downs.

After a woman refused to go through a full body scanner she was pulled aside and made to undergo the pat down procedure. When the TSA agent touched the woman’s breasts, she broke down into tears and screamed for a police officer.

When police officers arrived on the scene they led the woman away and told her that unless she would submit to the full pat down procedure she would not be able to fly.

“Why won’t you help me? You’re a police officer why won’t you help me?” the woman asks in the video.

All the while the woman’s son was filming the ordeal on his phone, having to constantly fend off threats from TSA agents falsely claiming he was breaking the law. The agents also threatened to confiscate the man’s luggage, even though he had been through the screening process.

    Watch the video:

The family was previously subjected to similar scrutiny from the TSA at Sky Harbor earlier in the year, prompting them to voice protest over violation of their Constitutional rights.

The previous incident was also captured on video (below) and was evidently remembered by some of the TSA workers who claimed to know that the whole family are routine troublemakers.

Actually, it IS true. You cannot BY LAW film TSA employees b/c allegedly it would give away their top secret security procedures for how they spot/identify and thwart real terrorists. :

    Ri-damn-diculous, huh?

"Troublemakers" will hence forth be known as those who assert their Constitutional rights, or reference the "founders", the "bill of rights" or the "constitution" in any manner. "Troublemakers" will be synonymous with potential domestic terrorists and will be treated accordingly......so let it be written, so let it be done.

PS. and before anyone says it....no, that's not my MIL.

PPS....this family is irritating and overly dramatic....but that doesn't change the fact that they're right.

WTF? Have these people been to a tailor? A doctor? Out to a nightclub?

You get touched in life. Some of it is more pleasant than others. Some of it is illegal; having your breasts touched by a female TSA agent does not come close to the threshold (IMO).

If I go through TSA, my kids will go through the big bad x-ray machine because it's not a big deal. Or they will go through the metal detector without setting it off because I (and people in my family) know that metal detectors detect... METAL! I go through airports all the time and have never had a TSA put their hands on me. So I guess I don't qualify for some fun time with the TSA agents. If for some reason I did get a pat-down, I would be calm and ask to speak to a supervisor if I felt like something was not OK. What I WOUDN'T do is flip out, cause a scene (which was so clearly theatrical in that video), and I wouldn't have my kid with the camera phone filming it. I sure as shit wouldn't call the Whaaambulance like that lady.

I guess that if I were REALLY concerned about it, I wouldn't fly on airplanes.

Having firearms isn't a big deal either.

Neither is having the police search your house, so long as you've got nothing to hide (you don't, right?)

And voicing crazy right wing opinions, well, if we shut those loonies up, that's no big deal, right?

Heck, for a hundred years, we all pretty much agreed that slavery was no big deal, too, didn't we?

Ya, the 'big bad x-ray machine' is no big deal....unless you consider someone taking naked pictures of your wife/children a 'big deal'. : Obviously for you, naked pictures and/or physical sexual assault by a government employee is just fine and dandy.

Not to mention that a malfunctioning X-ray machine can irradiate someone with enough "hard" X-rays as to cause cancer and those over 65 are susceptible to the 'mutagenic effects of X-rays' as are HIV and cancer patients, children and adolescents, pregnant women and men (as the X-rays penetrate skin and can cause sperm mutagenesis) ....and since they function 24 hours a day, it begs the question: what is the government's protocol for testing/calibration?

And for the record....I don't fly any more. The people I feel really sorry for are the ones that have to fly for their jobs. Essentially, those people's choice is: allow the US government to violate their right to be free from illegal search and seizure OR, they have to find a new line of work. If that isn't a definition of tyranny, I'm not sure what would qualify.

Don't try and give me the "you're consenting to searches when you buy a ticket" nonsense....I just showed how that you're giving that 'consent' under duress if you're forced to fly for work. And....don't tell me to take a train or a bus....TSA is already implementing these same procedures for those modes of travel as well. Besides, driving cross country for meetings during a week is hardly practical.

Having your fundamental rights routinely violated (for any reason) [b]is a big deal. Really.
What fundamental right is being violated by an x-ray scan?

The 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments will always require evaluation. For example, what is the definition of "arms?" Clearly most people agree that the 2nd amendment does not protect my right to own nerve gas or a nuclear weapon. So interpretation does, and will, take place. The 4th amendment has the word "unreasonable" in it. Well, what constitutes unreasonable?

The problem I have with a literal interpretation of the Constitution/Bill of Rights, is that the founders made them purposely vague because they had the foresight to see that times would change. They could have stated that we have the right to bear flintlock muskets. They even made a system of checks and balances along with a constitutional process for amendment so that the Constitution/BOR would not be a static document, but a dynamic, living document capable of true longevity.

We talk about fundamental rights, but I think we all recognize that rights may only be exercised to the point that they infringe on the rights of others. Are laws against child pornography violations of our fundamental right to free speech? I would argue that they are not, because they protect the rights of another person (the child). Therefore, the question should not be whether our fundamental rights have been curtailed (which they inevitably must be in any society), but to what degree and in what form they may be curtailed for the preservation of other fundamental rights.
