National deficit is actually in decline. Until we're hijacked by another group of hawks and get dragged into another war or wars.
Nationally, there's been little movement on 2A issues because all politicians at that level knows it is too hot to touch. Unless, an incident occurs that makes it favorable for them to do something. Sandy Hook has proven the nation as a whole is somewhat desensitized to mass shootings and really doesn't have enough attention span for any movement to carry enough momentum. State and local is where things have actually moved. Those are the places to keep an watchful eye if you care about 2A issues.
For the most part, I don't think much will change or be felt on "main street".
The system is still one that is fueled and directed by big money interests after all. And if you are familiar with Wall Street trends, big money likes consistency and stability.
