So tickets aren't so important anymore....

NYPD Cops Say They Are Afraid To Give Tickets and Minor Citations Since Police Executions

The New York City Police Department has virtually stopped ticketing and summonsing people to court for minor offenses since the recent execution of two cops on December 20th. Officers say they feel betrayed by Mayor Bill de Blasio, and added to that, they have told local reporters that they are afraid for their safety.
The five police union leaders have said that the NYPD cops do not want to respond to every petty call and crime, but they have been under orders to do so. NYPD protocol has even mandated that two cars respond to all of such calls, even for some of the most minor offenses.

Union leaders say the police are resisting this, in part as a protest against the mayor which many critics have called misguided and even racist – based on his interracial marriage.
Since the police defiance of these orders, however, citations for traffic violations are down by 94 percent. In hard data, that means a decline from 10,069 to 587. Summonses for public consumption of alcohol and public urination are also down by the same percentage — from 4,831 to 300.
Parking violations are have plummeted 92% — from 14,699 to 1,241.
The Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association warned officers to“put their safety first” and not make arrests “unless absolutely necessary.”
Since that warning came, drug arrests have dropped by 84% — from 382 to 63, with respect to the NYPD’s Organized Crime Control Bureau.
Police sources said that this is not just cops thumbing their noses at the mayor, it is more due to officers’ safety concerns.
“The call last week from the PBA is what started it, but this has been simmering for a long time,” one source told the New York Post.
“This is not a slowdown for slowdown’s sake. Cops are concerned, after the reaction from City Hall on the Garner case, about de Blasio not backing them.”
All of this decline in police activity and yet New York City is doing just fine. Just think how many tax-payer dollars could be saved if we laid off 94% of the NYPD? With a department that boast that it is bigger than the entire FBI nationally, perhaps that wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

Part of this may be true but I suspect part of it is to hit back at the Mayor.

Sounds like a bunch of spoiled brats, and the men and women of the military don't have safety concerns with their jobs, don't see them not doing their jobs because they may not agree with their Commander in Chief, maybe firemen shouldn't enter a burning house either because of a safety concern?

A truth’s initial commotion is directly proportional to how deeply the lie was believed. When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.

Do you really think we want laws to be observed? We want them broken. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be crimes that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants law-abiding citizens? Pass the kind of laws that can’t be observed, enforced, or objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers.

Since the NYPD is refusing to do their jobs they've been testing Darwin's theory to make best use of the time.
