Karl Marx said the "Religion is the opiate of the masses." I don't care to comment on that quote, but it's pretty clear that the pseudo elections and electoral process is the opiate of our masses. The amount of money spent on "electing" a President could easily cover housing our homeless veterans, go along way toward fixing our crumbling infrastructure, and dare I say it, establish a baseline health care program for those who really can't afford it.
But we get the most expensive President Super PAC money can buy, and as I commented in another thread, intellectually I understand that if you pay for a highly priced prostitute, you will get a high quality screw, however you define it. (I have no first hand experience, personally.) Every four years, we allow the Super PACS to spend "Billions and Billions" (as Carl Sagan might say) ensuring that we all get screwed to our dissatisfaction for at least the next 4 - 8 years!
