the '94 AWB caused assault weapon crimes to go down 66%!!!!

So apparently when they started the '94 AWB ban, assualt weapon crimes dropped 66% (p. 19) That's nice!

Oh wait..there is a little fine print...

Pre ban use of assualt weapons in crimes - 4.82%

Post ban use of assualt weapons in crimes - 1.61%

They also claim that 70%+ of america supports a ban of semi auto assault rifles...

    Oh the humanity!

The lies, the lies, the lies.

Just glancing through the document and checking a couple of random references, it's complete BS. They apparently reference something, then just make up whatever they want to say about it.

This group really is one of the most bereft of intellectual honesty that I have come across. They seem to think that any lie is acceptable in pursuit of their cause.

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for re-election and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake free people get to make only once." Judge Alex Kozinski, 9th District

It's no big secret that many republicans and many members on this forum don't care alot for Bush 43. But could you imagine what it would have been like with Gore or Kerry? We would already have Cap & Trade, breathing taxes, etc, under Gore and under Kerry, well only God knows that. But we know it wouldn't be good.

Re: the '94 AWB caused assault weapon crimes to go down 66%!!!!

Fan, I'm not quite so sure about that.......

The president has very limited powers. With opposing houses of congress, things actually work out for our benefit.

As in "our benefit" being "nothing gets done".

Remember the "government shutdowns" under the clintooooon administration? If it were up to me, I'd declare a "government shutdown" for at least 320 or so days per year.

Of course, the bad part now is that you've got one party pulling left and down (that'd be the demopublicans) and the opposing party pulling left and up (republicrats). In the end, the only place that leads is left, as the down and up seem to about cancel eachother. Just the socialist (left) parts of each are agreed upon.

FWIW, when Saberune made that comment, I thought about posting "and the administration before that (clintooooon), the one before that (bush the elder), and the one before that (R-R), the one before that (jimmah cattah), the one before that (Jerry Ford), and the one before that one too (Tricky Dick)".

That's as far back as I remember, so I won't go further on back. Even though my first book on politics was "none dare call it treason" about that #*&!-sack that called himself a Texan, johnson.

In other words, the fact that our country isn't great now is a DIRECT REFLECTION of the crapola constituents this country has raised for at least the last 100 years. And that's why I refer to them as amirikan residents, as the term Citizen is far too much of a compliment for them.

My guess is that the Great Generation - the one that sacraficed in WWII - coddled their kids too much. Nobody understands working for the good of the country today, it's all about "my liberties! my liberties!", and no associated responsibilities.
Do you really think we want laws to be observed? We want them broken. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be crimes that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants law-abiding citizens? Pass the kind of laws that can’t be observed, enforced, or objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers.

They will after they serve their new mandatory community service...but then they're getting paid for that as well.

I wish I could punch Brady in the face.

But I'm not a man of violence. Unlike Miss Brady who gets her buddies in the gov't to pass laws (Threats of violence) and use violence on her behalf.

Yes, Bravo is correct, I should have made administration plural. But I was not defending the current admin either or wishing that we'd had Gore or Kerry in the top spot.
