    XCRL Keymod 5.56 Won't shoot

Just received my xcrl keymod 5.56 & went to the range today. Loaded a 10rd mag, pulled the charging handle but bolt catch/release didn't engage instead took one round to the chamber, pulled the trigger & heard the click but no bang!!! Lubed the bolt, bolt carrier, Repeated the same steps but again no bang. I had to pull the charging handle really hard to extract the live ammo.
In the owners manual it said to do something with the bolt & firing pin but also says "should be performed by a gunsmith or manufacture". I don't know if anyone had similar problem with a brand new gun or not. I don't know how to attach a pic in this forum but my piston(attached to bolt carrier) looks kinda burnt!!! It's not shiny white. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Any marks on the primer? Is the bolt going into full battery?

Try taking the lower off and observing the hammer movement. Make sure though that you hold the hammer so it doesn't damage your receiver when released without the upper.

If it's got carbon on the piston head, it probably WAS tested. I wonder how this "tiny pin" is retained?

What Texassoftail and Merlin said are both valid. Hand loads, when not loaded correctly to spec, have been a source of problems in the past. The firing pin may not be striking your primer...which could mean the pin isn't at the right depth (retaining pin missing), it's broken (seemed to only affect older versions of the rifle....not the newest; you'd be the first unfortunately if that's true), too light a hammer spring with hardened primers, etc.

With the new bolt and op rod group are there any technical drawings that could be release to show at the very least the parts breakdown. We could use that to maintain, troubleshoot and order parts.
