    Temperament

Cane Corso are considered to have an even, stable temperament. They are easy to train, generally good with children, and calm with their primary guardians. They can be reserved, suspicious and may be aggressive toward people they do not know, if not properly socialized. Corsos tend to be a quiet breed.[3]

A true Corso should be indifferent when approached and should only react when a real threat is present. Their guarding instinct is so primitive, they notice slight changes in their environment, such as change of furniture inside the home.

Very cute. Leave the ears and everything else attached like they are supposed to be.

Just wait till the bugger grows up, cute, powerful and loyal. Hopefully when our girls are a little bigger we might get another dog. We left our dogs in Spain with my father. They never knew what a leash was and wouldn't like Florida much. Once the girls are out of diapers we can think abut potty training a dog.

Here are ours, two Pyreneean Mastifs and a German Shepard.

Here's churcill with the boss. He passed the year before last at 14. Still miss him.

    Having a guzzle,

With his private Harem, and yes, the German shepard is fully grown.

And our youngest, India aged five.

one of my favorite pics of a cane corso. many many moons ago I think they were originally working dogs (and many still are) equally at home hunting or herding livestock.

They're a very powerful breed (obviously) and also very intelligent and loyal, and from what i've read great family animals. They're naturally very protective of their pack.

very similar to the presa canario, both magnificent animals.

here's a picture of a presa, you can see the similarities in the two breeds.

both great breeds with very similar physical characteristics and dispostions, great choice aziator.

The amazing thing about dogs, and a reason I can never understand their abuse, is that a dog will fight to the death for it's owner. That has to be respected.

    Not always.

Dogs are pack animals and they will always defend their pack from outsiders. This is how a wolf pack works and dogs are basically wolves.

However, in-pack fighting sometimes occur and the lesser dogs will always back whoever they perceive as the alpha/pack-leader.

If you have many dogs, and say an alpha is fighting one of the lesser dogs, then all the dogs will come to the aid of the alpha and attack the lesser dog. That is unless the members of the pack think the alpha is no longer the alpha, then they will back the other dog (the neo-alpha).

If there is ever a time one of your own dog believes he should be alpha and he then attacks you, you better believe the natural tendencies of the other members in the pack will come to his aid and attack you too, because pack members will always back up who they think the alpha is.

It does not happen much, but it can and does happen. There have been many cases where dogs killed their owners because of a power takeover.

We perceive dogs as being noble and loyal, but basically it is just being a dog. Does not mean we cannot love them and treat them as one of the family members, but does not mean we should give them nobel peace prizes either

agreed, but that's why you have to be the alpha.
