Welcome!! You Down Under or in a Free country?
G'day all, new XCR-M owner here. I haven't fired the rifle yet, its still at the gunshop awaiting licensing paperwork. I'm keen to see how it performs compared to the other platforms I've owned in the past (AR's, M14, FN FAL). The rifle is secondhand, and an earlier model i believe from the serial number XMA0800.![]()

Cool. I'm in the dark on Australian gun laws, how does the XCR fit in down there? Can you get parts/spares easily? I think the only updates to the M have been the gas tube and chamber update to help with accuracy. If you can see the gap between the gas block and gas tube in the forward most vent hole, you've got the original setup. Some had accuracy issues with the early version, others d had some decent shooting rifles.
Sorry, i should have stated, I'm in Australia. Things are different here... as I'm sure your aware.
Gas guns here are highly restricted, and only available to collects (who aren't allowed to fire them), license safety instructors (instructing use only), landowners for crop protection and professional pest eradicatiors (me).
Parts availability here is extremely hard, if i need the gas tube/block upgrade (that you have described) I'll be up shit creek... I paid US$75ea for new PMags last week which is cheap here, I've seem them advertised for US$185 each!

That's the original setup. 50m from a helicopter shouldn't be an issue.
Dang, I would like to shoot hogs from a helicopter.

My first M is in that same serial number range 0800 IIRC. It's shot a few 3 shot 100 yard groups that were just one ragged hole (with mil-surp FMJ brass cased ammo...like 150ish grain).

Thanks for the info, this isn't a rifle I'll reload for it's a 'work gun'. Brass falls from the chopper, and the amount of ammo used isn't worth the time reloading. I buy or get supplied bulk cheap SP/HP ammo.
I'll fit it with a red dot (Aimpoint/EOtech) or Elcan Specter DR. I'd *like* it to shoot 1MOA, but if it does 2MOA i won't be heatbroken.
Reliability is a what I'm after. Unfortunately gas guns are very few here, choices are limited and prices are outrageous!
