Musing on the monolithic upper receivers

I have been thinking (this usually just gets me in trouble) why didn't Robinson Arms design the xcr with the mag well integrated into the upper receiver? The fn fal was like this and the HK 9 series guns. If the lower was the registered part then you could have 308, 556, pistols calipers and whatever else sbred and save grundles of stamp money. I like that Idea

It would make accessing the chamber area even more of a PITA. A removable side cover (to retain the rail on top) to the upper receiver ala the AK or FAL might be in order then.

In some ways it does make sense though if they could pull it off design wise.

That guy, he said I should be oblong and have my knees removed. But I don't trust him, he plays the banjo.

If they were to do anything they should have made the lower with a removable magwell like the m96 and RAV02. Then we could use AK mags for the 7.62X39 and 5.45 conversions.
