    AR Carbine or Midlength?

Building my AR (first one) and I get conflicting info on the barrel length and the optimum gas system length for the barrel. For example, I prefer a 14.5" barrel with a carbine length system. I've read this is an optimum setup for the barrel length, but other articles claim a midlength system is best for a 14.5 and 16" barrel. I'm new to AR's and just don't have the experience to make the best call.

Mid length= more hand guard real estate, lower gas port pressure, later bolt unlocking, easier extraction, lower bolt carrier speeds and softer recoil.

Don't take my word for it, go check the tech articles ar ar15barrels.com and search out other tech papers.

Mid length would get my vote.

    Lot less stress on parts.

    Me too.
Do you really think we want laws to be observed? We want them broken. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be crimes that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants law-abiding citizens? Pass the kind of laws that can’t be observed, enforced, or objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers.
