Been there. Done that. This hobby and money-smarts don't go together.

Just like custom vehicles....you won't get your money back out generally unless you find a very specific buyer. Most times, if you're looking at it from an investment standpoint (and personally, I think firearms would make a poor one)...leaving it stock is likely best.

Even then, at minimum, there are additional costs—ammo, extra magazines, holster and range fees. Ammo... talk about flushing money down the pipe!

I brought this G17 last year for a couple of hundred dollars. I cut the frame down to take G19 mags, threaded the barrel and Cerakoted it. Why? because i was bored and wanted something different. Spent nothing on it, it's reliable and it goes bang...

I built this gun because I wanted a Glock 19/23X that utilizes a full size locking block. I did planning for almost 1.5 years and when I had everything on paper I started buying parts. Took me 2 years to get everything together, everyone saw the final months of it. There are lots of benefits to the full size locking block in accuracy aspect. That was my main focus with this build. I'm currently working on a second. The other plus to this 23X is that I can shoot 9mm, .357sig and .40Cal out of one commander style (19X) glock. By using a G22 barrel I can do all conversation's available and maintain full size ballistics.
