    Shortening XCR-L Barrel

So, thinking about SBRing my XCR in 6.8SPC I currently have a 16" barrel and want to shorten it to 12.5" is there any issue with the gas block or gas port that may have to be addressed as well?

I'd *guess* so. What size is the question. Just the dial or block and port too? I dunno.

Unfortunately, you'll probably just have to cut it down and start testing with the ammo you plan to use.

I'm betting it'll run fine. That's based on running several cut barrels and most XCRs being over gassed. There have been exceptions. Sean has a weak M. If it doesn't run, it'll be ready to get going with a larger gas port, if required.

I know AR's run fine with a mid length gas tube and 12.5" barrel in 6.8. So my guess was that with the adjustable gas the XCR would run fine too. I was mainly looking to see if someone had done it before.

    Thanks for some confirmation Nate.

Sean you are also correct as you never know with dwell times, gas port size etc. What will happen when you cut one down.

    Thanks for the input guys.

The other thing in your favor is that 6.8 SPC II doesn't really have a "bargain basement" ammo choice....so the higher pressure stuff should run okay in the gun even with the bbl cut down.
