Yah and just think how things might have turned out at RA if a certain someone isn't so closed minded about things...

I mean he probably broke out in hives the moment he realized he had to adopt Fagpul's M-Lok.

Meh....IMO, other than the weight, the XCR is still the best platform out there. The cost is on the high side too...especially for parts, but considering the scale of manufacturing, isn't surprising.

Weight is not an issue for civilian market. But the unnamed had ambitions for military contracts. And if you follow what has been produced by the likes of FN, Beretta, CZ, etc.—for military use—all have an eye towards weight and mass manufacturing. Yes, the XCR was ahead of its time and overlooked for some avoidable follies/technicalities. But you can't deny some opportunities were missed.

Don't deny that....but I do highly doubt that even with RA making the superior product to what was offered at the SCAR trials that it would have been awarded the contract b/c FN Herstal was already supplying the M4s (along with a lot of other small arms) to the .mil and most contracting is very political.

Also, I don't see Alex being willing to license the design out to other manufacturers and he wouldn't have been able to keep up with the contract size without doing so...and it's entirely likely that I'm wrong and he'd be willing to do so...I just don't see it based on limited experience dealing with him directly.

Everybody is weight conscience these days! The AR guys are always talking about 4lb AR’s. Cost is also a big issue these days. While dang near every other firearm is dropping in cost, the Xcr is still at the very top of the price range. It’s competing with POF, Noveske and some other top tier manufactures. And honestly does not have near the reputation as the others....
