    6.5 Grendel Project.....

I was visiting Gunbroker and found a 6.5 16" midlength gas AA barrel and bolt that just couldn't be passed up. Of course sitting on brass, bullets, dies, etc. for the 6.5 conversion kit didn't help. ;D My order to Midway went out to procure an upper, handguards, gas block, etc. today. :duh:

If RobArms doesn't hurry up on the XCR-M, in all likelyhood they will loose a customer soon. I mean I can wait....... but it has been TWO YEARS!!! already.

At least some specs on the "M" would help.

Last post by Alex stated that it will come out .308 first, and then cartridges based on that case. The G is not a .308 derivative if I recall correctly...
"Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience..." Correct. The 6.5G is based off the 7.62x39 case with an OAL to fit the AR15 platform. If there is a 6.5 conversion for the XCR-M it would most likely be the 260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmore.

Grendel for the XCR is at the top of my wish list, too. There are competitors for my .308 dollar that I might choose over the XCR-M, but nothing that will get my cash before the 6.5G XCR-L.

    Re: 6.5 Grendel Project.....

I'd still like very much to see a 6.5x39 variant in the XCR. However, at this late date, I'm willing to bet this project is going to be stillborn. Sad, but, eh, it happens.

When Robinson finally gets the new stock out, I'll be socking back money for a 6.8 conversion. The 6.8 is no slouch, even if it's not really quite in the same league as the Grendel. An XCR-M might also find it's way onto my must-have list if one turns up in .260 (preferred) or 7mm-08 (perfectly acceptable).

Thad, You got that right! I had already bought bullets, brass, dies, etc. in anticipation of the 6.5G conversion kit for the XCR. Happened to visit the Gunbroker site and fount the Alexander Arms barrel/bolt combo. Only thing I would have rather had it in 18" or 20", instead of the 16". But then, most of my deer shots have been at less than 100 meters so WTF. :duh: I went to the Grendel site to check what folks said about the 16", and it was all positive. ;D ;D ;D

Gunner you should be GTG out to around 800+ yards with the 16". Congrats!

I got tired of waiting and bought a AA upper last year. You'll be happy with the results. It's a lovely caliber to shoot and the accuracy potential makes we think about whether I really need another .308.
