Why does the Bolt and Carrier look so worn on my XCR ?

I never really thought much about it until a New Owner of an XCR posted
in SigForum that he just got a new XCR and when he was checking it out he noticed that the Bolt and Carrier looks like it has at least a few hundred rounds use...I noticed the same thing
when I got mine but didn't think much of it since it's my 1st black rifle. I just built my 1st AR Franken gun
and the BCM Bolt carrier group has no scratches and looks flawless. 300 rounds and it still looks new ..zero wear at all...

So... what's the deal ? My XCR Bolt and carrier look like they were kicked down a gravel road..

I love my XCR but inquiring minds wanna know....What up Alex , Ty , Terra ?? anyone?

Mine looks rough as in the finish wears off. I don't see gouging or steel/aluminum shards or flakes in my receiver well.

I'd like to hear the "official RA response" too. But hard to compare to an AR. Ar and M16's do not show much wear for they do have tighter tolerances on the BCG bearing surfaces. 300 rounds won't show much, if any wear. This helps attribute to smoother operation, but fails when sand and dirt gets into this area.

The XCR, like the Ak, looks to be "looser". Ak's will show more wear but inherent to its design does not intefere with operation. An AR showing that amount of wear will indicate something out of specs.

I noticed that the bolt/carrier are not finished very well.

Probably doesn't make any difference but I couln't think what it would be like finished in NP3 or soemthing else.

Well, I know that our finish isn't tough-as-nails. I will bring this up with Alex and see what he has to say about it.

I was being a smart ass when I said they looked like they were kicked down a gravel road..

I'm sure the wear is normal and it's just a finish characteristic and if lubed properly they will
last a very long time.

Okay,
Anywhere that the bolt/carrier is touching, you're going to have wear. It's normal for the gun. Some guns function differently, rub less, have a different finish, etc. Our gun may rub against the inside, but it's really nothing to worry about. The wear marks on yours are fairly typical.
If you get your gun new and it seems to have excessive wear, it probably just means that your gun didn't fire perfectly the first time we tested it. Some guns end up having 12-15 round put through them, sometimes even more if it doesn't behave.

Mine looked the same. No worries, I probably have the most abused XCR on this forum. 7 ammo cans later, Gun still works great

dadgum, 7 cans!! that means I have some catchin up to do!!. I only been able to get about 1300+ thru it in the last 4 months. must.... shoot.....MORE
