The 30 and 60 degree test shots seem fairly steep. Any steeper and the shooter would be almost point blank on top of or below you lol.

THERE WOULDNT EVEN BE A DISCUSSION ABOUT BUYING DRAGON SKIN IF YOU KNEW WHAT THE PRICE WAS!!

They quoted me something like $4500 for a level IV vest.

Bottom line on DS is that it is too hinky to gamble on and there are just better and cheaper MULTI HIT RIFLE solutions out there that even considering DS is a waste of time.

Thanks for the info Jack-O...yeah it's steep but I was going to try to swing a Level III Enhanced for a couple grand. I might as well forget it and just get some plates for the carrier I have now. Just have such a bad taste in my mouth about the whole Interceptor fiasco still to this day...

Massive recall a few years back shortly after the Dragon Skin incident hit the media. Vests/plates weren't stopping the rounds for which they were rated. I forget the reason if it was defective mfg or materials, though.

He is one of the few ballistic testing proffesionals that post and respond to questions on the internet.

To the benefit of everyone that does internet research. Very little BS, and very sound advice 99.99% of the time.

They were labeling their armor as NIJ certified when it really wasn't. In addition, for armor, it's just too complex for its own good. Armor held together by an adhesive is concerning as well. Their armor has so many components that QC is hard to maintain.
They recieved DOJ certification after passing DOJ tests, but later had it pulled after they complained about the Army testing.

For many uses Dragon skin works pretty well, there are a few Secret Service folks using it as well as Dip Protection guys also. It's probably not ideal for Military use but for CP work it would probably be fine. what it is however in Leve IV guise is heavy. Very heavy. Also the key problem of binding in soft vests, which it was designed to solve, has been controlled relatively well by their competitors so out to Level III it is no longer the king of the hill.

Pinnacle tried a totally new approach, while their competitors tried incrementals. At the end of the day though use what makes sense to you.
