    Stoked about new Grip Pod

Just got a grip pod for my XCR. Been a few times I wished I had a bipod for a certain shooting position, and never used a vertical for kneeling so I didn't know what I was missing!

I was pretty skeptical at first, given the price, but man, this thing is awesome!

In a kneel the grip really makes a HUGE difference. Stability is just leaps and bounds over just laying the rifle in your hand.

The bi-pod portion is great too. I was concerned that it would be unstable or have a tendancy to want to fold back up. Couldn't be further from the truth. Once sprung out normal downward pressure actually keeps the legs locked out. Perfect height for prone shooting, and felt very comfortable on a few other positions I tried.

Anyway, I'm sure it's nothing to those who have seen or tried these things, and I'm sure there are plenty that don't like them for one reason or another. But personally I love it and I'm absolutely stoked about my purchase!

I think they are great. I bought my first one back in the fall of 2006, still have it. I have a few more now and although I prefer a shorter grip I still like it.

I've looked at them, but have been to cheap to pay that for a VFG! Which is silly on my part. Maybe I'll end up pulling the trigger on one after I get my Saigas converted!

The grip pod also works great for pushing or pulling against cover. It also stabilizes the rifle for one handed drills. I just wish they were half the price. My wife and I went to thunder Ranch last year and the grip pods really helped out. Clint Smith said it was one of the few grips he liked, because it actually did something!

I prefer a shorter VFG as well. Though I do like the option of a deployable bipod. If only there was some way to make one for a shorter VFG...

I'm guessing the issue is clearing a 30 round mag while the gun is in the prone position.

I've got to admit, I just picked my first one up and absolutely love it.

Look around online, and you can usually find them all day long for around $50 slightly used.

One note about the price... Yeah, I think I paid just over $50 for mine. ($49.95 + $5 shipping) That's the GPS02.

HOWEVER... You can find them on Ebay and all over for $30... The problem is they are NOT real grip pods. They're a fake chinese knock-off. They don't have metal re-enforced legs, they have crappy threads on a crappy bolt that strips out at much more than a snug. I mean hey, I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to certain things it's hard to justify the cost of the "real deal" versus some much cheaper knock-off version. At least in certain cases. But in this case, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $20! It's only an extra $20!!!

I got one on the forum, have used it a bit and it does have some nice benefits. I'd rather thave a quick release latch to put it on and remove it but it is quite nice.
