Witch do you prefer 20 rounder or 30 rounder? Witch do you shoot the most? I find myself shooting the 20 rounders about 75% of the time & always while bench shooting. Have twice as many 30 rounders just in case of emergency.

I use 30s since that's what I have. When Magpul releases their 20 round mag, I'll probably end up using it for about 75% of my shooting. That's range work. At matches, I use 30s exclusively.

Of course, in my one remaining .308 rifle, I use 20s. Not much choice there.

When I was doing a lot of varmint hunting, I would run 20's because I had to carry the gun with me over fences and while riding 4-wheelers. I found it easy to keep several 20's with me in a back pack, and it made the gun easier to handle.

Just for the record. The 20 round magazines will allow you to get closer to the ground, if you are in a fire fight and shooting back from the prone position.

Just a little factoid.

Go figure.

30'S have the distinct advantage of being able to be used as a monopod while prone. sounds goofy, but it doesnt weigh as much as a bipod and in fact doesnt add ant weight at all. try it, it works!!

True, but it will still raise your profile for the Bogey to shoot at. An end of barrel based bi-pod or mono-pod doesn't raise your profile as much.

Like shooting over cover. If your barrel tip is just over you have a much lower profile than if the action of the weapon is laying on the cover.

Just trust me, that when they are shooting at you, you can't get low enough to the ground. In fact your buttons get in the way.

It is about your profile. You get to choose.

Go figure.

I live in Maryland... The Free State ... Kinda at least thats what they call it.

the law dictates that 20 rounds is the maximum allowed. but I can drive to a neighboring state
like Virginia or Pennsylvania and buy all the 30 round mags I want. I just can't order them and have them shipped into Maryland.

That said I have 12 , 30 round Mags and 2 , 20 round C mags

the 20 rounders work well for low bench rest shooting but I usually use the Mags ;D

I was supplied with more H&K mags than I know what to do with so that is all I use. I will pop in a 20 rounder every now and then but it is rare. With my grippod the 30 rounders dont get in the way on the bench (rarely shoot off the bench anyway).

I have:
18 HK mags,
5 USGI mags with MAGPUL followers
2 Original L85A1 mags , now with Magpul followers
2 MAPGUL mags

and one 20 round Colt magazine, with a Magpul follower

I rarely use the 20 rounder as I like to train with what I'm going to carry.
