curious who makes their mags
Love my AR/XCR in 5.45. Just don't trust the mags for anything other than the range.

still waiting on my 545 kit (1 more month and itll be a year since i ordered it)
tested a bunch of mags with cut followers and I found that KCI 556 mags with cut followers can fit 29rds of 556 and feed pretty smoothly.
Still need to actually test it.

meant to buy the wilson combat unimag but it doesn't look like they sell it anymore. I plan on buying some 300blk focused mags cause maybe those work better too.
so far the ROSS unimag II, CUT KCI 556 mags, and CUT Lancer 556 mags look the best

the Daniel defense 32rd mag probably works well too but that thing is expensive
RIP unimag. Mine worked good with the small amount of ammo I tested
I've got a 16" 5.45 barrel with type 1 or 2 bolt on hand

Did RZE Unimag finally go under?
honestly starting to think maybe i should just cancel the order and get a 300blk barrel instead. Whole reason i wanted a 545 barrel was because its a better short barrel caliber then 556 and (at the time) it was like half the price (a lot has happened in a year).
never wanted to add 300blk to the list of calibers that i own because id be paranoid double checking 556 mags all the time

5.45 is a great round but it sure sounds like it's better out of an AK than anything STANAG based....at least that's my take (not that it's worth anything).

Yep. They finished selling everything and closed shop

I think you can get 29 into stanag, but it's probably not dumb reliable like pmags with 5.56

:( Sucks to see 'em go, but I can't see how they'd stay around with their horrible/non-existent CS model.

Yeah, and that's really the problem....if it's not really close to 100% reliable, it's really not going to make it in the gun world for anything beyond a range toy.
alex robinson off handedly made a comment about them making their own mag
but it sounded more like a "what if", then actual interest on their part.
the lack of mags in the market now might change that since they just brought 545 back to their store page

They have too many irons in the fire as it is.....I highly doubt a mag is in the works.
Didn't 5.45 ARs used to be popular in the early 2000s?
Bushmaster made a run of them iirc.

I wonder what mag they used.
