We are turning the 6.8 SPC Barrels today. They have a 5/8" by 24 thread so that you can use most muzzle brakes, flash hiders, and sound suppressors from .30 cal. rifles.

The price of .30 cal. muzzle devices compared with .223 cal. muzzle devices is unreasonably high. Nevertheless we need your input. Because those shooting 6.8 SPC are wildcats themselves, we thought they should send us which brake they want installed. There's lots of good ones out there including the Vortex from Smith Enterprises, the Phantom from Yankee Hill, etc.

We have designed a muzzle brake which is almost exactly like the one on our VEPR rifles. It works well.

I'd say the A2 Flash Hider is winning this one!

Personally, I'm a fan of the Vortex. I have several, though they're all on 5.56mm.

Bottom line is I really don't care THAT much, but tend to the Vortex if I've got a choice in the matter.

Hmmm. Is 6.5 or 6.8 close enough to .30 caliber that the same can on a Halo quick mount would be effective. If so, the standard dimension flash hider would be my vote.

I'm going to look at the combined flash suppressor/compensator made by primary weapon systems....they tell me one specifically for 6.8 will be out soon.

I would want the rifle delivered with an A2 hider. Then I could install a Smith Vortex at a later date.

Deja Vu. I just ordered two of those. One with the combined compensator and flash hider for the XCR and one for my FAL. It will be two more weeks before I get back home to try them out.

I'm fitting all of mine with the "Phantom flash eliminator" from AAC so that I can easily move around my M4-1000 AAC Silencer!

Yes I voted for the A2 Flash Hider. But I would be interested in the muzzle brake if was like the AK74 brake.

Go DNTC and have both. I believe Primary Weapons is coming out with a 6.8 version of their hider/compensator device. On .223 it's very effective.

I'd have to give the nod to the PWS combo unit as well. I am ordering one for my XCR and my .308 DPMS.

Haven't seen the PWS Combo yet, do you have a web site I can view it? I like the Vesper style that comes with the unit, seems to do the job quite well.

Do a google on Primary Weapon Systems and you'll get their home page. There is a 5 or 6 page discussion on them on AR15.com in the new products forum. After looking at it all and hearing some first hand reviews, it looks like a great blend of a brake and FH. Supposedly it is pretty mild for anyone on the side of you and flash suppression is just slightly worse than an A2.

I plan on using them on my duty guns and hopefully we be able to post some results in a week or so.
