VB posted this link in the 7.62 forum, thought I'd put it here to: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=28&t=161050

ACR UPDATE

We continue to receive numerous calls from customers as to the status of the new Bushmaster ACR platform that we partnered with Magpul to bring to market. In an effort to try to keep all of our customers up to date – Bushmaster is happy to provide the following information:

Based upon the current level of production here at Bushmaster, and a number of military related projects – the Commercial version of the ACR originally slated for later in 2008, is currently being slated for a Q1 2009 release to the consumer markets. This allows us to continue our focus of preparing the ACR for initial Law Enforcement and Military demos, tests and evaluations which we are scheduling at this time. If your agency or unit has not yet had the chance to schedule a demonstration for this summer, and would like to – please send a note to [email protected].

In the meantime – the ACR will available to be seen in Booth 742 at the NRA show this weekend in Louisville for those consumers attending. We will endeavor to provide a new update on the release of the consumer versions of this exciting new rifle platform in late summer. As always, we appreciate your interest in Bushmaster, and loyalty to our brand.

Team Bushmaster
No ACR this year, surprise, surprise.

They probably want to see if Obama wins the next election, and if he does i'd be surprised to see the ACR for civillian sales at all.

That could be true, but at this moment both Magpul and Bushmaster are putting out different stories regarding the delay. Bushy says they are focusing on LEO/Mil right now, but Magpul says that the "Time delay is due to a number of things including us (Magpul) redesigning some parts at the last minute".

Take from that what you will.

Lets keep in mind there is no ACR tooling. It doesnt exist. Magpul made a handful of these things in their basement, and now they have to figure out how to actually manufacture it, tweak the design and actually make sure it works when abused.

No small feat, so a delay isnt a shocker. I think Q109 is aggressive to be honest.

Correct, and I suspect they don't want to make that investment until they know whether the civilian market will be open to them, or if it will jsut be a LEO or military market.

So I am guessing the Massoud will be an even longer wait. :( That is the rifle I am really interested in. I want that and a XCR-M.
