Anyone tried the new Magazines Brownells is making?

I was informed last night that Brownells was was awarded a multi year $$$ contract by the military for their new AR mags. A good friend of mine in SOCOM tried them and said they are a great mag at the cost of any other standard GI type mag. They have the magpull type follower, silicone spring and the best part, he said you can load 30 rounds in it and seat it into a weapon with the bolt closed forward without having to slap it hard or anything else, just clicks right in. I have a pile of HK mags sitting here but I am always looking for lighter to go along with reliability.

I have two of them from when they first came out.

Both are slightly larger than my Bushmaster and Colt 30-rnd mags.

What I mean is that they are a bit tight in a couple of my AR's. I never sent them back and now only use them in my PLR-16 as the tolerances are a bit less on the PLR-16 and the mag well is a bit larger.

Good thing about Brownells is that I called them a few months ago about these, and even though I've had them more than a year, they'd exchange them for free.

I even told the Brownells folks I had sanded one down a bit to see if I could get it to fit better in my son's RRA, but it didn't help. They stated no problem, just send them back.

Maybe at some point I will send the two back and get newer ones. Kinda kept them cause the shipping charges back to them cost about what I paid for one of the mags and it wasn't worth it.

BTW - I've had no feed issues with with either of the mags, just the slight variance in size that I mentioned above.

YMMV.

One of the other advangates of the 30 round mag is that if you are fiddling around in the dark its pretty easy to not put the magazine in backwards. I've had students with 20 rounders drop them and then slam them into the gun backwards. A 30 rounder makes that error far harder to do.
