They will lose this case entirely. There is no way the Constitution protects gun shows on county property. That has to be the dumbest interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. These people can very easily hold a gun show at a private venue.

Being born and raised in Southern California, I feel I can say this outright: If you don't like the gun restrictions in CA, then get the hell out of there. It's not going to be part of the US much longer. All the illegals will annex it back to Mexico.

Not sure about that.

The second amendment protects your right to keep and bear arms. The ordinance in question prohibits private citizens from carrying arms onto public (county) lands. I can see how that is an infringement. The argument was originally rejected because the California court said there was no individual right to bear arms. The Supremes said otherwise. Of course, it will probably have to get to a court outside California to get a proper hearing.....

Dudes, let California go...for now. When the "Holy War" erupts, we can always take it back with the 1st Battalion of the Arizona Volunteers, two old ladies in grass skirts and sling shots! LOL! LOL!

I attended North Hollywood High School in the late 70's, and being from Texas it was definite culture shock. When I was taking wood shop (Do they even offer that any more?) and I asked the shop teacher about making a rifle rack for my Uncle, everyone looked at me like I just pooped on the floor. The teacher went on to complain that he handled all the guns that he wanted to when he was drafted into the Army, one chick (who went on to become a Porn actress) started hollering about how hunting animals for food was so wrong. LOL, LOL, LOL!!!!!!!!! I guess all the sausage she swallowed doesn't count. Even my own extended family was not immune to this hopolophobic insanity, one of my cousins was a Liberal Arts major and got her Law Degree from Harvard in the late 60's early 70's. Her Mother, my beloved late Great Aunt, (WWII US Navy WAVE) hated the cops as much as I wanted to grow up and be one. My uncle, extremely devout LDS member thinks BO is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Out of all the family I left behind, my Aunt Dorthy and Uncle John had the good sense to move to Utah. So all in all, I think I made the right choice when I moved to Texas rather then remain in the Peoples Republic of Kalifonia when I got out of the Marines.

The voting majority of that entire population is so screwed up, they deserve the consequences of outlawing firearms and their access to them, I'm sure their Bloods, Crips, Chinese Tons, and Hells Angles Overlords will take very good care of them. [email protected]#king Sheeple.

Cruzzer,

Having lived here in the wonderful Republic of Kalifornistan my entire 52 years on earth, I find myself plotting to leave ASAP. The court system here is a shell of what it should be and this state has been circling the drain for a long time now. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of the family business (real estate) and relocating is out of the question for now. But I do see a free state in my future. . . . . .

It doesn't matter what a court in another state rules, some egg head will come here and challenge it and it will spread like cancer across the country. I laugh at the people whining about the cellphone restrictions here. 1/1/2008 You must have a hands free device while driving 1/1/2009 its illegal to text while driving (they needed a law for that?) and now they're talking about legislation to make it illegal for the driver to be on the phone at all.
Poor liberals, they just forgot that they need protecting from themselves.

I had a buddy get a ticket for smoking on a public sidewalk and had to drop it in his bottle of water because if he butted it out he would have got a ticket for littering in Oceanside. This all happened while two of us were getting a ticket for not wearing a DOT helmet. Got pulled over and within 3 minutes there were four cop cars & a motor officer on scene. There were 5 of us but you would have thought they were busting the senior version of the Sons of Anarchy!

I hope I live long enough to liquidate and get the hell out of here.

Meckr,

If you look at the case and it's actual history you wouldn't get into a knee jerk "Kalifornia Sucks".

The case is the only 2A case in the US actually at the District Court level and has significant support from the sitting justices. It currently has far more significance than the Chicago case.

The case revolves around the legality of a municipality prohibiting and actively banning on unsound grounds legal, consitutionally protected firearms related activities on public land whilst allowing and encouraging functionally similar weapons based "folk" activities.

This case has money, political will, an energized lobby and good law behind it and has a good chance of getting Heller and 2A incorporated in the 9th Circuit.

This is the sort of case law and fighting you should be supporting and praising, look at it before spouting off.

Seriously, no one whines more about California than people who don't live here.

In case you haven't figured it out by now, California is the FRONT LINE in the battle for national gun rights. Free states remain free as long as we keep all of the nonsense here. When we lose, it spreads to you. Where do you think the last Federal Assault Weapon Ban came from? That's right, California.

You assholes think you are so awesome, enjoying freedoms you didn't earn while you spit on those of us fighting for what are ultimately YOUR gun rights.

Like everalm said, Nordyke v. King is about Incorporation of the Heller decision. For those of you standing on the freedom you didn't earn and don't respect, let me explain. Heller doesn't mean anything because it only applies to Federal Law. Stupid, I know, but that is how it is. Heller needs to be incorporated for it to apply to all of the 50 states. Until incorporation happens, every State is still free to pass any gun ban they choose. That is why Nordyke v. King is so important.

I'm sorry about getting so upset, but we are sick to death of people telling us California gun owners how much we don't care or don't protect our freedoms.

I don't think that you guys don't care or anything, I just think you are out-numbered. You are the minority. You can fight all you want, there are lots of other places out there that don't need to be the "FRONT LINE in the battle for national gun rights" because lawmakers don't pass silly laws in the first place.

I feel for you. I know there are some beautiful places out there and unfortunately there are a bunch of bozos running things and even more bozos for citizens.

WE (at least ME) are tired of the Kalifonians coming to our states to help fight the battle for gun rights, you know, the ones that don't want us to have any. Kali is a nice place to visit for a while but then again, so is Mexico. At least in Mexico the gas is cheaper.
