Corrosion

Recently I've been bushwacking in rainy coastal areas, and exposed one of my rifles to salt water and a couple weeks of rain. I noticed a bit of rust creeping out of the gas selector so I pulled the barrel, removed the corrosion and blued the dial and selector. I also had some light corrosion on a couple of the stock fasteners so I pulled them and blued the screw heads. It's impossible to keep oil on the selector so I'm not surprised it was effected.

I used big45 rust remover and birchwood cold blue. We'll see how it holds up to the heat.

Have you considered NP3 coating the parts?
I was thinking chrome actually. I dunno how np3 would hold up to the gas/pressure.

Pretty sure Marlon here had his whole gas system coated in NP3. The gas/pressure shouldn't be an issue.
