I've been lurking on and off here for the past year. I've decided to add a new XCR to my collection of evil black rifles. I also decided to give a few brick and morter dealers in my area a chance to win my business. As much as I would love a super deal, the reality is that in this current political climate it's not going to happen. All I really want, is for a local dealer to be at an 'out the door price' which is equal to or below a direct purchase and a transfer. That way Robinson and the local dealer both make a money, and I make a new gun friend.
As of late I've been buying used, but checking Gun Broker lately I've found that used XCR's with the old gas sysytem are more than new from Robarms website, and NIB XCR's on Gun Broker are significantly more than the new ones from Robarm website.
I really don't expect to find one in stock, and certainly not the way I want it (5.56, 16" HBar, Muzzle brake, Folding/Collapsing M4 stock, No Sights). What I expect is the " Hey we're all out, but if you stop in and order one we'll give you a good price". Even though I fully expect them to hit me with a full list website price when I get in there. Somewhere along the line I would like them to pretend they want my business.
After a series of no answers from dealers listed on the Robarm local dealer list, I finally got an answer at a Robarm class 2 dealer which was about 30 miles from my house. Here's how the conversation went;
Ring, Ring.
Dealer: Hello (Dealers name).
Me: Hello, I'm looking for a Robinson XCR, do you have any in stock?
Dealer: huh?
Me
Speaking slowly) I'm looking for a Robinson XCR, do you have any in stock?
Dealer: What's that?
Me: A Robinson XCR, it's a rifle.
Dealer: Nah, we don't have anything like that.
Me: Well I got your name and number from the Robinson Arms Website which listed your shop as an authorized dealer.
Dealer:I don't know anything about that. CLICK (The sound of the call being disconnected)
Me
Thinking in my head because I was hung up on) Do you think you could order me one?
This was a Robarm class 2 dealer in South Florida. What happens with calls to a Class 3 dealer?
I have the money, and I want an XCR, I'm prepared to wait and I will order one. What happensn to those potential customers on the fence, deciding between an AR and an XCR?. Dealers like this should be deleted from the list.
First post, last rant.
