Fellow Forum members,

A few of us are getting together next Saturday, February 9th, 2008 to go put some lead down range at "The Cove" firearms range in Gore Virginia. What's that? Where the hell is Gore? It's just west of Winchester Va. off Rt50. here's a map if it helps:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&searchtype=address&addtohistory=&country=US&location=J8uDq8kozRkE8S6J0Gia%2fmIkt8vrF9EsqfxB9DmVZnV%2blIbT2BX5mrBttUNIQxYQ9Ak50nFrXWE%2fPM9xbwl8dggIBnP3Jlv5

We are meeting at the Gore Store at 12 Noon that Saturday for an afternoon of lead slinging and all who can make it are more than welcome.

If you want further directions, or have any questions please feel free to PM either va_plinker, 1redgmc or little o'l me, and we will be more than happy to help you.

I know it's a long way for most but I'm sure that there are some folks that are not that far away to come play that day.

Please post here if you think you can make it, or would like further information.

Thanks, and I hope to see you ALL there!

UPDATE

Met Aussie and va_plinker for the "shoot" today. Some good XCR, RRA, Vector, SIG(s), Kimber, Browning and HK action took place. Did a few 1/2 pound shots of Tannerite too... producing massive THUNDER in the valley.

Here are some pics...

Damn, your flippen big feller...
Me? I'm wearing the blue jacket - shootin' the AR...
Them first two fellas is Aussie and va_plinker...
Oh man!!

But I can't help it!

Roy, is that the 'skateboarder ridding' shooting stance va_plinker is doing, or is it the 'macarena hip-bump' stance?

Sorry I couldn't help it. It's in good fun though va!
The guy in the grey sweater, I think it's va_plinker, kinda looks scared of it, or that your anticipating the BANG!!! or maybe not...
in any case glade all of you got to go out and pop off a few rounds, kill some dirt paper maybe an old TV, you should have brought those little green camping propane canisters, shoot the cap off its really cool... ;D
Yes we met and had a great time. I swapped my 12" barrel for the 11"er that Alex sent me to test. Well I had the gas down to 3, using Wolf Ammo without a problem. When I turned it down to 2 it failed to feed, back up to 3 and she ran like a train!

My take on the 11" barrel, I can't wait to get mine chopped, which will be soon and have the gunsmith work on my PWS muzzle break so I don't need any washers to clock it to the correct alignment.

Again the PWS Break worked just GREAT! This was highlighted when I swapped barrels to the 11"er that didn't have any break, or flash suppressor. The muzzle rise was noticeable, and the noise was terrific! Not as good and the Tannerite!

Good to meet your Va. we must do it again soon! Thanks for a great day 1redgmc.

Looks like you guys had a great time...It is always nice when you can go to a public place to shoot and know the guys next to you aren't going to shoot you.

To give you an idea of scale, I'm 5'7".
It looks like you all had a great time and I will jump at the chance to meet any of you great people.

My Girlfriend always tells me when I leave the house to go shooting...don't shoot your eye out!
I respond If I do.. the back of my heads going with it. :duh:

Roy does look like he don't miss many meals.. ;D

Don't blame Roy. He had his hands full just making sure I was pointed in the right direction. He'd slip in a tip here and there while trying to understand why 1redgmc kept handing me full mags ;D

I really haven't shot pistols much at all (as if you couldn't tell), but by then end of the day we had my pattern down to something slightly respectable. (at least it looked less like a shotgun blast from a 100 yards :p) I'm glad there are no photos of the target

1redgmc and Aussie had a tremendous collection of pistols out there. 1redgmc's Tannerite was awesome and truly sounded like a jet roaring through the valley. Aussie's 11" flame throwing XCR was amazing.

It was a good afternoon. Even the weather gave us a break.

Hopefully we can do it again and get some more XCRs there!
I'm glad there are no photos of the target
Ah, but there is... between your two pistols pics above - and the groups are more than sufficient to knock the bad guy out of the fight.

Considering the distance, you did great!
I noticed in the first picture that you both had good finger control.
When I placed my mouse over the picture, it did too.

What! no pictures of the tannerite going off.

How was accuracy with the 11"?
No tanny pics... dang it... we'll have to get some video next time!
How was accuracy with the 11"?
Aussie swapped out his 12" HBar for the 11" and it seemed dead on for the range we were shooting at. He dumped a mag into a softball size group from about 25 yards. The real test was setting off the Tannerite with one shot. I really didn't expect the 11" to be zeroed with the 12". We didn't shoot from a bench so it was not really a test of the barrel.
