Something something very short piston [SIGNAL LOST]
What worries me is RA getting overloaded with too many SKUs. Flexibility and a custom shop feel is great for the customer, but has to play havoc on the bottom line when you consider mass production. Stuck with parts that aren't sold yet etc. JIT saves $ but when you build everything in batches, retooling for the less common configurations means more time and overhead.
Mlok, keymod uppers in 4 lengths 16
Barrel caliber and gas system combos 30ish
Gas block & dials for length 35ish
Not including parts common among all of the rifles that's near 100 SKUs to consider. Of course a lot of this is eliminated by the commonality of standard and blackout length gas, and certain calibers being more common in one than the other.
It would be neat to hear from RA to see what they are focusing on, challenges given supply chain constraints etc. Mostly just some transparency regarding wait times, is it a subcontracted barrel manufacturer causing delays, or some other vital component?
