I don't know how much interest there is, but I have emailed MFI about a lower set of BUIS's. They have a prototype of a 4 aperature folding rear sight than is lower than the comparable GG&G AR sight. The sight was made originally for the SIG but it looks like it would be a great fit for the XCR as well.
MFI said that we would need to have 1000 to reach a target price of $65. I would assume this means $65 for the front and $65 for the rear assuming we can get enough interest in fronts and rears.
I have found the AR sights to work, but I know a lot of people find them too tall. What height would you like if we get something going? I told him that I thought a 1 inch to center would be great. This would leave some room to make the folding mechanism and put us a lot closer and or right on the 1.4 sight height above the stock/barrel that the AR uses.
Terra,
Any chance RA would want to look at this as an option for the standard issue sights for the XCR and help us get closer to a demand for 1000 units?
$130 for a set of folding front and rear sights doesn't sound too bad at all. I have several MFI pieces and all have been well made so I would not be concerned about quality.
