How is the comp/muzzle attachment held on to the M96? Pinned?

Is it threaded under the comp?

What do you have to do to take it off and replace it with a AR15 style flash Hider?

The M96 I have, and most I have come across have the muzzle brake/flash hider as part of the barrel (in other words NOT removable). That was the law when they were made screwy as that may seem. The law has now changed so if you hurry to your local gunsmith he can cut and thread your barrel to take whatever is available for the AR. You had best hurry, as once Obama gets in that may change in a hurry. :2cents:

I have some pics of a M-96 Expeditionary carbine barrel that came with the compensator factory pinned and welded.
The pics were taken during the removal process. If you want copies send me an e mail address.

if you cut it to 16", it will still be legal.
I don't know how much you would need to cut off to eliminate the bulge but if the flash hider extends the barrel length back to or longer than legal and is welded on then you are good to go.
