Expeditionary Rifle in 6x45 (6mm/.223) with extra 16" barrel in .223 for Recon setup. ;D Rifle has been purchased by forum member and should be in his hands for Christmas. I WILL miss it but needed the money.

I can't imagine what it would be like to purchase a gun and not shoot it...

I totally agree. Where is the fun in that? I have zero safe queens and take at least two rifles out a month just to shoot and have fun for a day. Even my grand dames, My M1 Garand and M1 carbine (1944) come out on a regular basis. Nothing like experiencing a little history.

Picked up an M96 during Christmas. It is in the Recon Carbine configuration. From what I have been able to learn about M96 serial numbers, it is a fairly early example HP99 series one (HP990017XX). It looks like it has had the trigger and bolt tail fixes applied. Condition-wise is looks brand new... basically unfired except for factory testing. Looking forward to the weather settling down so that I can take it out for a range session.

Nice trigger and very smooth feeling action. Balance is a little muzzle heavy though.

I wouldn't mind having the barrel threaded for a flash suppressor and also would like to pick up a rifle length barrel.

Well I'm the new guy on the block. Found my way over here from AR15.com.
I have the M96 Expeditionary which I picked up at a local gun/pawn shop.
I had sent an email to Rob Arms asking what I should do with the bolt carrier and the trigger group because according to their website mine needs to be changed out.
They told me to send the parts in. If they want me to send in the parts in order to replace them, then shouldn't they be the ones to foot the bill on the shipping? ???

ps. I like this forum. ;D

AR15L,

Usually the courtesy of free shipping applies to the original owner of a product in 95% of most businesses. I think the fact that they are offering to take care of the issue at all on a product no longer manufactured says a lot about RA. Just my opinion.

You know, I got to thinking about what you said here and it makes sense. Looks like I'll be at the P.O. tomorrow.
I guess I was bummed that the rifle wasn't ready to rock when I picked it up.

I've had my M96 for a few years now and it has been an all round great rifle. Also I have to say, after I sheared off the rear cam pin on the operating rod, RA was extremely helpful in getting me the parts I needed to repair it - thanks for the great customer service.

A few weeks ago I finally ordered an XCR and am looking forward to its arrival.

I have to jump in here.....

I got my first M96 back in 2000. My buddy was working there and was always going on about the Expeditionary rifle. I finally just bought one to shut him up. Well now I am the one that won't shut up. I love the thing! I bought another one just last fall and gave it to my uncle. I found another one last month and bought it for myself. Now I have a recon and an original design. I would say they are the most fun you can have with your clothes on, but I have shot naked too. Life is good... twisted, but good. Side note... the XCR is on my favorite list too. I have several with more on order... I need an intervention....
