Almost done! Eddie did an excellent job, the slide feels like it is on bearings, the fit, finish, trigger, and thumb safety are excellent. Next stop the range for a 200 round break-in, then Walter Birdsong for the Black T finish.

A lanyard attachment seemed to be a good idea.

My sense of humor dictataes that the front of the slide and barrel have the following engraving, "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help."

As soon as it comes back from Birdsong I'll post more photos.

Semper Fi and Happy Thanksgiving!

It does look nice the way it is at the moment, but the frame is in the white and it'll rust like crazy in short order. In the mean time I'm keeping a lot of oil on it and wrapped in plastic until I ship it off on Monday or Wednesday. Mr. Birdsong advised me to be patient as he has a lot of work, so I'm thinking by late January, early February is when I might get it back.

When this comes back I'll have the Big 3 trifecta of handgun finishes, a Thunder Ranch Special in Bear Coat, Wilson Tactical CQB in Rogard and NP3 on the small parts and then the Birdsong Black T. The first two were carried for a year on the street with the new finishes, when this one comes back I'll photograph all of them side by side and show the similarities and differences between the three. I was happy with the first two but I wanted to get the Birdsong for this pistol after speaking with Walter. I like the fact that everthing is finished, including the springs, in Black T and according to Walter that would make it impervious to the Houston humidity.

I'm sure someone is going to ask, so here is his information;

Walter Birdsong & Associates
1435 Monterey Road
Florence, Mississippi 39073
(601) 939-7448

He does not have a website, all our communication was by telephone and mail.

FWIW, cerakote is supposed to be much more durable than roguard or the Black T.

For me, the Roguard was first, then the black T. Worn through them both. Next one up, I'm going to try cerakote.

I tested cerakote side-by-side with duracoat, and cerakote was much more durable..... and rust resistant.

Try the Black Diamond that Nighthawk Custom Offers. It is one tough finish. I have seen a few pistols with thousands of presentations and they look new. I had mine refinished in it while I was out here, can't wait to get home and see how it looks.
