This is a shot of my new 556. Has not been to the range yet but I can comment on the f&f and general feel. The fit and finish is very good if not excellent, rails are a little rough compared to the XCR but no biggy.
The new factory folder is a surprisingly stout piece. Very well made in fact. I like the swiss style button/locking mechanism. I trashed the shitty Maco stock in favor of the superb Magpul CTR. Guys if you have not tried the CTR please do. Tightest lockup of any collapsible I've seen plus the shoulder weld is fantastic. As with all things Magpul it is beautifully constructed. I also ditched the more or less awful factory handguard for a Swiss unit, replaced the equally awful front pivot screw bull shit with a Swiss takedown pin and added a Marcolmar 550 flash & bayo lug. The gun now feels and looks fantastic. Old school when compared to the XCR but kinda sweet just the same.

Yes... if you don't mind us asking - what is your total outlay for this setup - to include cost of rifle and your mods/upgrades?

The handguard is definitely a wise choice, based upon the ones I've handled - and not having paid great attention to the other pieces/parts.

Ok here goes:
Sig 556 folder rifle(via Florida Gun Exchange) = 1299 + 25 s/h = 1324 shipped
Flash hider & bayonet lug(via Marcolmar) = 70.00 shipped
Sig 551 hanguards and takedown pin(via The Shooting Edge) = 90.00(handguard) + 20.00(pin) = 110.00 shipped
Magpul CTR telestock(via Cactus Tactical) = 102.14 shipped
Total for package = 1606.14(not including 30.00 local FFL fee, but who counts that anyway).

That's really not too bad at all, considering you now have exactly what you want / desire - and a sweet setup to boot!

I've spent more $$ on stupid stuff and have nothing to show for it.

Thanks for sharing that info.

Very Nice ,now that is the way that rifle is supposed to look. After seeing yours i looked on GB and some of them are made up like that already. I thought it was a factory thing ,but i guess its the dealers doing that.
Sometimes they send Guns to the US thinking it is what we would like ,but isn't and usually its the furniture thats the problem.
Like the Japanese rifle makers that built the Winchester legendary rifle reproductions . The Metal work was great , and the wood was nice ,but the high gloss shiny finish and a butt pad on a high wall just didn't make any sense.
