I can't believe I hadn't seen this before... Did we already talk about this on here?

Either way... That article made me feel warm and fuzzy with pride. :) Someone pin this! I would love for everyone to read it, be they guest or regular.

This is one of the reviews that steered me into the XCR. I'm a couple weeks away from being a proud papa of one :)
That was good. I read an article years ago and I've been a fan ever since. Glad I finally joined the club!!!
cheers, LT
His statement about the barrel not being free floated doesn't make any sense to me.

I suppose he means is the absolute sense of free floated, which is something only a bolt gun can achieve. What is truly important is that the XCR isolates the barrel from the affects of a tight sling or resting the fore end on a barricade.
ya i remember that article... iirc, he never took the rifle off gas 4. That would have made his review even more positive.

same here. most of the time i think gun mags are crap. have you ever seen a bad review? nope, and you never will. gun mags uses guns to sell mags, guns use mags to sell guns.

anyways, i liked how the article pointed out stuff the xcr had that i did like/want. such as a one peice railed monolithic upper, adjustable gas system, and folding stock. then i read about all the positive internet reviews from real users.
nothing sells a product better than other happy customers. :) You guys are the bomb-diggity.
I haven't touched a gunrag is many a year. The chief problem--for me--is I've seen all the stuff they typically print way too many times. Been there, done that.

Also, I don't have much interest in new guns. I mostly have what I want. Pistols are a case in point. Most are simply recycled concepts. I have several P7s. I don't need anything else. I'd like a few things, but they're mostly retro (.41 magnums, a Python, the Vltor Bren X clone, etc.), or adding a second to a gun I already own (I'd like another Super .38 Colt--matched pairs are the shiz).

Then there's teh intarwebz. Full of idiocy, sure, but there is good info to be winnowed out. Gunrags, well, they print what they're told and it's something they've been told many times before. They just don't meet my present needs for real info. Simple as that.

I'll take the collective experience of dozens or hundreds of users (internet) over the experience of one guy and one gun who *might* also have revenue based bias (gun magazine) any day of the week.
I'll try to take the best of both worlds and go from there. When I'm researching I'll try to find good and bad, and then mix them for the desired result. Put in the oven for 45 minutes and its done!

Anyways I do that with not just firearms, but anything I buy. I want to read the good reviews and the bad. Usually you can tell when someone is trying to give a good review (by good meaning unbiased) just by their tone. If they are biased one way or another it shows really easily. I mean if I buy a $1500 rifle in my mind its going to be the best thing out there period because I just spent the money on it. Thats human nature methinx. I TRY but not always succeed in trying to review competitors and take the best and the worst reviews and make the most informed decision.

I dont think I'll be disapointed in the XCR but we'll see!! :)

Neither did Larry Correia in the SWAT article. It is unfortunate that RA sends the gun rags a rifle representative of what people can actually buy and they don't use it to its full potential. Meanwhile they post a glowing review of a 556 in a configuration that people can't buy and several reviews of the MASADA/ACR hyping many options/features that do not appear to be available from Bushmaster, not to mention the reviews are before the charging handle got moved into HK 91 territory.

If any other mag wants to review the XCR, then Alex should ship it with the new gas block set to the lowest setting that will run American Eagle.
I find Sweeney to be one of the few good writers. He is very knowledgable and from what I see, speaks his mind, good or bad.

Patrick Sweeny has another review of the XCR coming out April 1 (next month). Yearly update? ???
Larry Correia is a tool from way back. Anything in print or on the monitor from him should be viewed with a very jaundiced eye.

In fact, one should show the same caution and suspicion one would use when view print media when viewing electronic media. People don't change much, and you see the same sorts of agendas and misinformation for the same reasons on the internet as you do in things like gunrags.

Cavet emptor and all that. Oh, and P.T. Barnum lives.
Once I figure out someone on the internet is in the gun business, depending on the exact circumstances, I do start taking their opinion with a big grain of salt.

+1 to that. Only problem is 99% of internet experts, which are also real life experts, have some kind of agenda in one form or another. They are all trying to sell something.

I can honestly say that I have no agenda and will not Ho myself out to anyone. If they want to give me something free, so be it, but don't expect me to give a glowing review if it sucks.

I agree with you there, I have received many free things over the years, especially being in the Army. I don't tend to pull punches as some of the gear I have tested could one day save or loose a life.
Has anyone seen or read this months article that was mentioned previously?
