Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

And I hope it fits in place of the folding para stock without a cumbersome adaptor.
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

Alex,

I'd be willing to take the pics myself if you'd just send the XCR-M to me for a while. ;)

In fact, maybe we could work out some deal, I'd be willing to do your next catalog if you'd like.

I'm proficient with digital and large format, etc. and have all my own gear.
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

I would even second that request and say go ahead and send one to Juice, he takes a mean photo!

But he won't share his secrets with us :(
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

I forgot to mention, photography is my other inexpensive hobby. ;)

Used to be a profession for me for awhile. I assisted several pros in the Dallas area in the mid to late 80's before the market crashed.

Also, worked in a studio at the same time which leased out space and equipment to pros close to downtown. The studio space was awesome, had cycloramas in two of them. One large enough for multiple-car shots.

Had many shoots in that studio requiring extensive set building. Very good learning experience.

Anyhow, left that field after the photo market crashed and eventually wound up in the high-tech/telecom field.

So ... I am a little bit serious about my offer. :D

Me too! I love your work and would love to see a catalog, and some prototype pics. How far are you from RA? Might pay for you to contact them?

Your pics, it's all in the lighting, right?

I have a very good set up to, paid for by the county, and I take a mean shot of a DB. ::)
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

Yeah but all that frontal lighting always makes you look like a criminal in a mug shot! ::)
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

I never get any complaints. If you didn't pick up on it, I take alot of photos of [email protected] :-X
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

Missed that part.

Photography is also one of my inexpensive (NOT) hobbies. I've got a lot in Nikon lenses with no current body since my camera died and I haven't replaced it yet. All my recent shots I've been posting are using my wife's Casio digital.
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

I just recently transitioned from 35mm film SLRs to digital SLRs (bought a Nikon D200)... I can't explain why I waited so long to change, digital is just so damm convenient!
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

I've had the gamut of photo equipment. The most expensive stuff is the strobe lighting equipment.

The cameras are cheap compared to all the lenses, especially when medium format was king for pros.

Large format you could get good prices for new/used lenses, the cameras were really just large light-tight boxes, so large format cameras went from downright cheap (Calumet/Cambo) to very expensive (Sinar). If you needed a specialized lens, you'd rent it.

The medium-format stuff was always pretty expensive, the Rollie and Hassy stuff was very expensive, now the film stuff is cheap as the pros have gone mostly digital. Real glut in medium format now.

In the past, the 35mm stuff was rarely used for commercial pro stuff except some quick fashion stuff or artsy stuff. Most stuff was shot in medium format.

But, now that 35mm format digital has gotten so good, most pros have abandoned medium format and gone strictly 35mm format digital. The 35mm lenses are mostly cheaper than the the medium format, although some of the newer 35mm lenses are quite expensive.

Hassy and Rollie still make some good digital systems, but they are usually in the $10k-$35k range. And these only provide a little bit more quality than the high-end 35mm digital stuff Canon and Nikon produce now. I fully expect Hassy and Rollie to get bought out or just go belly up in the next 5 years or so. Pentax, Bronica and Mamiya have already quit the market due to poor sales.

The quality results of the high and medium end 35mm digital stuff is amazing compared to stuff we used to do with medium format film.

The large format stuff will always have a place due to the specialization of the view-camera movements, and the ability to modify perspective with the view-camera's movements. But even these now use digital backs, so film isn't as widely available.

It's amazing the quality someone can get with a 35mm digital camera now and Photoshop.

Sig,

Get back in the game. The D80, D200 and D300 are all remarkable cameras. You don't have to spend a lot of money anymore to get good quality 35mm digital.

Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

The lighting is the most important thing, but it's all subjective. Perspective, subject matter, color, etc. all make the shot.

That is something I would like to learn... Photoshop. I played with it once.... a bit overwhelming for me tho to learn on my own.
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

Guys,

I hate to ruin a real good topic of conversation but I set this thread for Alex to see we were interested in seeing some photos of the new and prototype gear he has to offer. Do you think I should start another thread for Gun Photography and move all these into it so it doen't "cloud the water" as it were?

Only a thought?
Re: Photographs of New XCR-M and the new XCR Stock?

Not a bad idea.
Well I have moved this topic as you might have noticed. If you want to go and move your earlier posts into the new thread please do so as I don't have the access to do it for you.
How do you move threads?
You have to be the owner (you started the thread) to be able to move a thread. There is a link at the bottom of the thread called "Move Topic", click that and it will let you select a new home for this thread and whether you want a pointer thread posted letting people know the thread moved. I don't think the pointer threads are necessary since they create noise, I'll eventually go through and delete them.
Whoops, I guess I meant how do I move a post into that thread?
