Is there any need for a Rifle to have a Light / Laser ? What are the advantages ? What are the disadvantages ? Is it better to get a Combo Light and Laser or get a seperate Light and a seperate Laser ? Is a red laser more visible than a green laser ? What is the best deal for a combo Light and Laser for under $400.00 ? What is the best deal for seperate Light and a seperate Laser under $ 400.00? What are your experiances with lights and lasers ? Thanks for your input

Police like white lights as it provides illumination in buildings and when transitioning from daylight to a dark room it evens the score and can dazzle opponents. But it does also bugger your own night vision.

Military like lasers for target indication and snap shooting at night or with green, during the day. In a military world an IR laser and IR light are good, but note that these are considered active devices and someone with NV can see your beams.

Green lasers are more visible in the day but don't get too excited. 5mw is the limit for civillian products.

CDI factor is high but useability depends on what you are looking for.

Mickey Said it about right. If you happen to live in GA you can huint hog with a light at night...In the military we use red and IR mostly. We are starting to see green for designation, wickedlasers.com sells some nice ones. I think a laser is a great training tool on a handgun but I am not 100% sold yet on my rifle. I think a good light is almost a must have, a laser would be a nice to have after good optics, good mags and a light. :2cents:
