OK, here's my dirty little secret: I've been a member of "the media" for almost 30 years. And Mr. Chem is dead on with this observation. As an independent, I usually chalk up the talk of media bias as so much whining. However, the treatment of Palin by the media in this case is just horrible. Where is the fairness of unbiased reporting? Is Palin perfect? No, not by a long shot but who is? I really disagree with her stance on teaching creationism in the public classroom. However, that is a political issue. If the media wants to open a dialog on her political stance on issues then that is fair game. However, to treat her like some tabloid queen is shameful.
Actually the newest story is Sarah Palin referred to Barak as a "*****". This was apparently said by a waitress in Alaska who did not want to be named...What bigger "dark secret" can there be than being the spawn of Muslim extremists?
Mr Chem,I want to believe it is a good move but I just see the dems jumping on her weaknesses far too easily. Yes, there are some women who supported Clinton just because she is a woman but not in the numbers that would give the republican ticket a big boost. My sister in law is a major Hillery fanatic and organizer. She and her colleagues consider Palin as the republicans just giving lip service to women with no real support. In fact, she used the word "insulted" several times and "do the republicans really think we are that shallow?" I like Palin a lot but the McCain/Palin ticket just doesn't give me confidence that they can beat Obama. I may be completely wrong on this and I hope I am but this will either go down as the most brilliant or the dumbest move in recent political history.
