Saw this while looking for something else on Youtube. Pretty neat but pretty expensive.

Now, the guy from MilSpecMonkey drives me nuts and I can't stand him because he is so dorky. I think he takes this stuff waaaayyyy toooo serious in a weird way, you know what I mean? :p

Looks like a gimmicky thing that will fail on you when you need it most.

Monkeyboy is a little dorky (he was one of the designers of the America'sArmy video game), but he's well liked and respected in the mil/le world for his good works.

See if he had an XCR he wouldn't have to slap the bolt release on the side of the gun. Also he said it is supposed to be more to the front, more center line of your rig and body, would that hinder getting the mags in a prone position?
I think he was nervous, he kept missing the mag well when he was reloading. LOL
It is an interesting concept for sure. Like to see it in some real world trails, get the feed back from real operators and the like.

Okay looked at the link for it, it only holds 3 M4 30 rd mags. Why does that not sounds like a lot of mags???

OK, so its works with GI mags - in clear dry conditions...

Let's see it work in the desert, with rain, mud, rocks - oh, and with PMags...

Of course none of my GI mags with Ranger bases will fit in that thing...

I agree with capntroy - its likely to fail when you need it most. :2cents:

Still - I respect people who think up new and different shit. Keeps the momentum of technology working.

This one simply isn't for me.

That would be ideal if it held 6 mags and both right and left hand models . Special Forces guys like lots of mags. Its really expensive too $250 for a mag dispencer . I'd buy it if it held 6 mags only . It looks to bulky for just 3 mags. We always gotta carry to much stuff . Good idea , hope they improve it ( 6 mags)

Well it can be used both right and left sides, and it is pricey, and since it cant take PMAGs yet and of course with a ranger plate on the bottom it is useless as well. Think it is a $300 piece of plastic.

It doesn't do a thing that my HSGI mag pouches don't do just as well, taking up less space, for much less, and will work with my Pmags and L5 mags.

That's kind of interesting, but i'd have to agree, not for me. So what is everyone using for mag pouches? I'm actuallly looking for some molle compliant pouches.

I love the High Speed Gear Inc. double mag pouches. They hold 3 AR mags per pouch, for a total of six, or 2 AK mags or 2 .308 mags. They have both hook and loop and quick release buckles for closure, and shock cord adjustable retention. They also have some new low profile shingle style pouches that came out last year that I plan on getting.

Because its not. A standard combat load is 7 mags. But when I was over seas I didn't know a single person that carried only 7 mags. Being an MG guy myself running out of ammo was always my biggest fear. That thing looks way to bulky on his vest for only 3 mags, makes me wonder where I'd put the other 12, heh.

Was this monkey guy ever in the military? He looks kinda dorky, like someone I'd get along with.

I use these and I love them. The bungee cord is not too tight so you can get the mag loose in a hurry under stress. Also these are very Ranger Plate compatible. You can also attache another mag pouch to it since it has m.o.l.l.e. straps on the outside.

These are the best bungee M4 mag pouches I have ever seen. :2cents:

Amount of mags was mission dependent for me. 7 would have been the least amount. I usually carried at lease 10 mags at all times when i would go on recon missions. If I was going on an escort mission I would carry about 12 total (11 + one in the gun). If I was going on a combat run, I would stuff as many as I could carry in as many places as I could fine.

I think the most I ever carried at one time was probably around 15. That is about 420 rounds. That is a lot of ammo on a person, plus the other 75lbs in gear.

What people don't realize is when guys go out on mission they carry a ton of stuff. It can come down to saving ounces, not pounds. Most guys you talk to in the military love the HK mags. Most door kickers I have spoken to about them say they aren't really worth the extra weight they bring to their kit. When you are jumping around, moving asw fast as you can you look to save whatever weight you can. This STRAC thing doesn't appear to do that and I think the monkey dude is a little off most of the time (though he does appear to pretend to be an "operator" lots of times, I love his fluid hand movements).

*I am not an operator but I spoke to one when I dialed 411 the other day. :2cents:

I had a friend make me some 4 mag mag shingles, like the tactical tailor 3 mag ones, I have one mounted on my Weesatch so I can carry 9-10 and one in the gun. I had it set up with 9 mags and my icom in one of the mag pockets and one in the gun. Here is a pic of my rig.
