Venturing out of the shadows - Two XCR questions

Hi, been a lurker here for some time and have been waiting for Robinson Arms to add the 6.5. Now almost ready to buy. Two questions below, if you please. Sorry if they've been answered, I searched but didn't find anything.

Q1: Which throat size is the XCR 5.56 model? The specs page says "[tt]5.56 NATO (.223 Rem.)[/tt]" and I'm assuming it's the 5.56 throat, and not SAAMI .223?

Q2: I would like to have both the 5.56 and 6.5 and I notice that the 5.56 is $200 less than the 6.5. So I save $200 and not lose anything by buying the 5.56 with a 6.5 conversion kit -- as opposed to buying the 6.5 with a 5.56 conversion kit, correct? Or does the 6.5 model come with something the 5.56 doesn't? (I mean besides what the conversion kit would have, of course). Or is the 6.5 conversion kit going to cost $200 more than the 5.56 conversion kit?

Thanks!

Welcome, glad you are here and hope you have found everything OK.

I believe that the spec is in fact 5.56 and not the SAAMI .223.

Not sure why they have a $200 price jump on the 6.8 and 6.5 but yes, you would probably be better off just spending the money for the 5.56 and then getting a conversion. You would have to call them about the price of a 5.56 conversion kit if you wanted to get a 6.5 rifle, that may be a question that is not often asked as they are just starting to ship the first 6.8 stuff. Up until last week there was no need for a 5.56 kit. Get the 5.56 now then order the 6.5 kit for when they come out.
Hey Bullrat, I have a 16" Barrel in 5.56, A2 Flash Hider, old style gas system, with bolt & ejection port buffer (complete kit) with less than 300 rounds fired through it.... basically new. Whats your offer??? That way you can concentrate in you choice rifle in 6.5 or 6.8. :toast:
