Goodness they always seem to get lost , this just keeps happening to these poor guys.
They were only holding this BP agent so he would tell them which way is South.
This happens all the time ,Fox is the first to really report on it ,we need to do something so they know which way is South.
Remember Those poor guys who got lost in Russia that time ,,They met up with Putin's welcoming Committee.

You would think a military unit working close to a border would at least have a GPS of some sort to prevent this sort of thing. Heck, some cell phones come with a basic positioning system. I guess the American taxpayer has to ante up for GPS systems and give them to to Mexican army.

No, because if it is intentional, having a GPS wouldn't allow the excuse of " Oh sorry we are lost".

Imagine this...

The year is 1990 and the US Military, in conjunction with the DEA is flying in a specially equipped 130 just off the coast of Columbia while tracking a particular group of individuals involved in highly questionable covert activities.

Our boys are maintaining FLIR surveillance and radio silence when a couple Columbian Mirage 5COA fighters appear. Our boys figure no problem, they know we are here... and why...

But the Columbian pilots claim they didn't know... and when the dark C-130 failed to respond to commands to identify themselves - the Columbian boys open fire on ours, killing several crew members and special ops guys.

Did it make the news? Nope... not that I ever remember...

And what happened after that???

The Columbian government half-ass apologized to the families of those lost and said although it was "...an unfortunate incident... the mission was poorly coordinated... and we regret the loss of life..."

Yeah, well, that is bullshit and good guys are still dead for no reason.

History will repeat itself and more good guys will die...

Let's hope that it isn't ours...

That's why we need to seal and control our borders. Then there is no excuse, we can make it a field training mission and deny everything. Lost foreign army troops OR drug dealers a "past issue." A bunch "dissapear" and less will try the "border hop."

That would just generate an escallation. You've got to remove the reason people waqnt to come here. Hell make it easy to come, but make them pay taxes. No deducatbles or credits forht eh first five years etc... Make then pay for education etc...

I'm with MickeyC on this one. People come here because it's so easy to get a free ride. Get rid of the free rides and you'll see immigration go down and the people that do come will be of higher quality.

Getting rid of free rides will have so much more benefit beyond immigration though: lower taxes, less laws, less government, more responsibility, less dependence and more interdependence.

In Spain no-one gets free access to social or medical. You need to work x number of months, three I believe, to get access to each week of coverage. Even the illegals pay social security over there and the end result is a significantly reduced burden. unless you are a citizen, you uneed to pay up and contribute first.

I have also read on another forum that Mexican Military shot a 50 cal. round through a BP windshield. Not to mention that they probably got the gun from us. I have yet to see one illegal immigrant trying to do the right thing and try to become legal. Though I do agree that we to need to stop the things that make them want to come here, I believe it won't slow down until we do more. So many of them are serious criminals that it will take a lot to stop them.

A couple of thoughts....

The clip of the guys in the minivan would be funny if the matter itself weren't so serious. It could be the 30-second promotional video for why you need to triple budget for the border patrol.

Honest to God: They should deploy the National Guard for backup and take into custody a couple dozen of the trigger-happy soldiers from south of the border. Drop them in a federal penitentiary for a while and let the press publish satellite photos with coordinates of the incident. That would get everyone focused on the situation. The government has decided to tolerate these sorts of things. But I bet McCain/Palin would look at it differently.

On the note about the encounter with the Colombians: They ran a bunch of those sorts of flights out of PAFB here in Brevard County, FL. They were a number of those kinds of incidents. The government tries not to publicize them. But those encounters have occurred even with our allies, like Israel. GeoPolitics is often an ugly -- and often fatal --game.
