I've never seen anything like this before. It looks pretty ridiculous to me but what the hell do I know. It's made by Mako Security but I'm guessing they're not selling too many of these.

Here's their description:

"This Revolutional (<-- huh? ???) Accessory enables you to carry a spare mag, ready to use, on your weapon.
The MG20 serves as a spare mag carrier, but also as a unique ergonomic fore grip."

that's silly. ;D
I agree, but the Zahal is a conscript army. They train to the lowest common denominator to reduce the number of Neglegant Discharges they have and reflects the fact that most Israeli's do not have a lot of formal firearms training before joining the Armed Forces.

If you keep it all really, really, simple, then most everyone can do the basic tasks...at least half ass.

They also have these to secure the magazines to their rifles.

It beats walking around with empty rifles, like our National Guard does at our own border. ???

I ordered some stuff from Area 51 yesterday and saw that thing, struck me exactly the same. What are they thinking? Now we are in add-on hell!

With a 4 way rail on the XCR, I could mount multiple of these and freak out enemies with the appearance of my fanged rifle!

That would look pretty humorous, have a bunch of those hanging off the rails...

C'mon TH - those are gay... ;D

How many operators in the field actually carry spare mags like that? 8)

Everyone I know keeps spare mags tucked in their pants and boots or they have a serpa carry them for them!

Very true. An Irish girl I worked with over there was freaked out that all these young "kids" were carrying rifles around. I pointed out, they were unloaded but can be quickly if the SHTF. It's funny going to see a movie, and see people walking around with M4's and Galil's. They're very serious about security. You couldn't drive into a parking garage without having to pop your trunk, or walk into a shopping mall without opening your bag or purse.

On a side note, if you mounted two of those per rail, would it act as a heat sinc and cool your barrel more quickly? You guys may want to order yours now and beat the rush.

I would rather have the ready-mag.

That thing looks like total shit.
